Hi All

I have a Tetratec 300w heater light is going indicating on but according to my Marina Aqua Minder it appears to have stopped heating the tank.
Which should I trust?
Is there any way to tell if the heater is actually working?

Thanks

Ollie

feel how warm it is, are any fish looking i'll?
get a glass thermometer.

Fish still look happy.
Should the heater be warm to the touch when its running?

Thanks

Ollie

Not really, but just sticking your hand in the tub should tell you whether it's lukewarm (around 25C) or colder (room temperature).

Feels colder than normal
Thermometer says 21C
I have Harleqins and Corys will the fish be ok till i get a new one? which will be asap

Thanks
Ollie

They should be fine. A lot of corys actually prefer it a bit cooler than we usually keep our tropical tanks. Check out Planet Catfish for more details. And according to fishbase.org your harlequins live in 22C-25C, so they probably won't mind either. A lot of fish use a drop in temperature to induce spawning behaviour so you could be in for some interesting days :)
