    RO or Tap Water

Hi all, Can you get a picture? Anubias rhizome rot issues usually lead to the leaves being shed, while looking relatively healthy. I've had damage from <"high ammonia levels">, but as far as I know not <"from nematodes">. With light burn <"you can get spotting">, but often the whole leaf is...

New set up and plant help.

Hi all, That doesn't sound good. As well as issues with ammonia (NH3) there are a number of pests and diseases that effect them. Have a search for <"Anubias's and nematodes">, but it will make fairly grisly reading. Cheers Darrel

    Anubias Disease!

Hi! I'm new to this forum and I'm feeling not good about a few of my emersed grown plants. I've recently put more attention to my plants after they've been growing emersed for about a year. I have about a hundred of Anubias golden and also about a hundred of Anubias long wavy. Things aren't...

    Anubias issues

Not counting water quality issues Nematode infection can be a major culprit, the rhizome provides a huge home for them to hide out for a while an increase their numbers. :-)

    Lockdown EA Aquascaper 900

So do you think it is a nematode, rather than bacteria that causes this then? If so would the critter be visible, or microscopic? I only ask because I’ve never actually seen anything when I have had this before. The only visible symptom being the decomposition of the plant. I think next time I...

    Lockdown EA Aquascaper 900

Anubias can melt for many reasons outside of acclimating to new growing conditions but If you suspect you have Burrowing Nematode Disease (Radolphus Similis is the main culprit but there are others) the easiest off the shelf medicant to use would be eSHa NDX as it’s a very effective nematocide...

    Lockdown EA Aquascaper 900

This is called Anubias Rot (creative naming 😆) or rhizome rot, and is something that is commonly experienced by people all over the world with this plant. I had a real issue with it a few years ago, and I did some research (not a lot of definitive info out there) and I have successfully cured...

    Anubias leaves developing holes

I don't want to be alarmist but there is the possibility that they are being attacked by burrowing nematodes causing the leaf destruction (I have experience of this, wish I didn't but hey ho). Having read a lot of papers on this topic a highly likely vector for infection of burrowing nematodes...

Anubias Sp, banned from UK import?

Hi all, & I think Luis's is probably a good idea, tissue cultured plants would start off virus and nematode free. I'm not at all sure how long the nematode can live in the roots of aquatic plants and whether it could transfer from plant to plant in the aquarium. The original paper says...

Anubias Sp, banned from UK import?

Hi all, I've dug a bit deeper, and I think I have the reason for the lack of exports, and it is actually a bigger problem than just the UK. The good news is that it might explain the decay symptoms you often see with Anubias, the bad news is that it is even more difficult to treat than the...
