    Converting Aquarium Into A Paludarium

I would prefer an open topped paludarium because I wouldn't want to limit the growth of the plants to just under the lid, I.e all at the same height. Does that make sense?

That looks brilliant, and that's what I'm aiming for with my Eheim Incpiria 400 litre. Have you got a journal or something on how you created this? Thanks.

    Converting Aquarium Into A Paludarium

@foxfish and @mort If you re- read my post, it's my 400 litre Eheim Incpiria tank I'm thinking of trying to convert into a Paludarium. So the open front idea is not an option. See question 1. Thanks

    Converting Aquarium Into A Paludarium

This is a speculative enquiry about doing something I've never done before, therefore no knowledge or experience. I am thinking of converting my 400 Litre Eheim Incpiria Aquarium into a Paludarium. Maybe dropping the water level to just a third of the current depth or less. Then creating some...

    6ft Sumped Discus Tank

The actual Scape looks excellent despite the issues you've had with that brown filamentous algae. I don't think you'll have that problem again once it clears up. But having looked closely again at your excellent scape, I'm beginning to second guess your choice of Discus as the future...

    6ft Sumped Discus Tank

Incidentally I highly recommend this food for your Discus. It is the best form of protein you can give them. Don't bother with frozen bloodworm it is useless, and feed them beef heart at your peril, not recommended at all, especially in a planted tank. http://taaquaculture.uk/Freeze_Dried.htm

    6ft Sumped Discus Tank

Such a pity that has happened. So frustrating. Sounds like a few "Schoolboy" errors you've made there, but we have all been there and done that somewhere along the way. Hopefully it will all turn out as you hoped for. I've had a lot of experience with planted Discus scapes, some great, and a...

    6ft Sumped Discus Tank

Hi Dan, just a question on the pot scrubbers. I'm guessing that you will be keeping your discus in a low PH setup, say around 5.5 to 6.0 PH? I have heard of the potential fir acidic water to break down the plastic over time and releasing "stuff" into the water that could potentially harm your...

    Darkness Into The Light

This tank finally reached saturation point. To the point where there was more plants than water. I had two choices, strip it down completely and start again; or remove at least two thirds of the plants. I went for the latter option. So it has gone from this, To this.

    Darkness Into The Light

This tank just keeps on giving. Everyone who visits just says how amazing it looks. I suppose when you see it every day you don't quite appreciate it as much. Much as I like Riccia Fluitans, it is becoming a bit of a nuisance, and sadly I'm still chucking a half bucket full away every two...

    Angel Delight

Today I decided not to keep the breeding pair of Koi Angel Fish. Luckily I have a very good relationship with my local LFS where I bought them from. Yep but nothing I can do about it now. This is the first time these two Angel Fish have spawned, totally unexpected so therefore not prepared. If they do all disappear the pair will spawn again. But before they do I will cover the inlet basket with a pre filter sponge.

UKAPS Aquascaping Experience - Hardscape Challenge Results

Haha, my OCD wouldn't like that. I don't do scrambling, I like to plan meticulously with the plan in my head and all the materials hardscape etc all to hand. So because of that I probably couldn't compete in such a competition. Which just goes to reinforce my respect for those that do, and I...

    Darkness Into The Light

This is what it looks like now after a huge trim, not that SWMBO will notice. Plants Pearling like crazy. I would take out the large Cryptocoryne at the front but the root system is huge so it would make a right mess.

Well I didn't know that. Every day is a school day. I am not tearing it down, just sort of control freaking it a bit. I've just done a huge trim and prune. Darkness Into The Light

The difficulty is that the six pieces of wood that are inter linked run virtually the full length of the tank. So to redo it would mean removing all six pieces. Which is practically a tear down of the tank. So not sure what to do.

    Darkness Into The Light

Both wife and son have told me this needs a Mega pruning, and sorting out as they think it is totally overgrown and no longer looks interesting. I am inclined to agree. Under this mass of plants are six inter linked pieces of wood covered in moss and trident fern. I don't want to rip it down...

Update as of today following yet another huge pruning session since the 30th October. I have slightly adjusted the EI Dosing, after the 50% water change I now only dose one lot of Macro, and one lot of Micro and leave for two days, then repeat. So like a six day cycle.
