Another Flickr fan here, been using it for years, no complaints, it's all good by me!
Thanks Mark, will make sure I upgrade!
Like mark said it depends what you want it for.
If you want to replace your 18-55 then the 17-55 f/2.8 is a fantastic lens
Re: Longleat Safari Park
Some fantastic shots there, I always enjoy going to Longleat, been there quite a fwe times in recent years.
Wow, George! Your photography really has come on leaps and bounds, there are some absolutely amazing shots in there, it's no wonder you won so...
I like Macs, I love how they look so sleek and sexy, and are very good for photo/video editing. The saying is so very true "pc users swear at their...
The best EF-S lens imo is the 17-55mm f/2.8, blows the kit lens out of the water, is a bit pricey tho
I agree with all the above regarding the 1.8, in terms of what you get for the money you spend, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal on any...
I've seen some very nice macro algae set ups with seahorses and pipefish, looks great
Great shots Aaron, nice to see the Red Arrows are still flying and not "too British" anymore!
Just don't hassle the Hoff!
Re: Trip to London.
Sorry mate, it's from the advert
"I'm going to london, to buy Heat magazine" etc
They are very cool fish. Mouth brooders, spit the fry amongst the spines of an urchin to protect them once they hatch.
Fortunately all the ones...
Do you shoot in RAW or JPEG? If you use RAW, you can fiddle around with the white balance after you've taken the shot.
I have the same camera as...
Re: Trip to London.
Some great pics, love the guys facial expression in the last one!
Did you buy Heat magazine?
Sounds like a good plan baby
Some great shots there! I really like the first one :D
Number 3 looks great, would make a great centre piece in a tank
Great work Tom! I've always been a big fan of your photography, I hope you do extremely well!
ps who's the hottie in the potrait gallery?
I also like #1 the most. you really get a feel for how cold it looks like it is!
good shots all three, however
They let you back in then Garuf?
Not a lot of people do this anymore. There are some really well scaped tanks out there at the moment, have a browse of some reefing forums and...
Lovely looking dogs Paulo! little on the small side for my liking, but still cute :D
Nice shot, looks great George! Like the naturalness of it
Reef or fish only? Gimme a shout if you do take the plunge, I may be able...
I'm not quite up to your level yet Steve, usually stick to aperture priority mode, usually serves me well enough.
Always shoot in RAW tho, adjust...
Amen brother Mark!
I use Photoshop Elements and Canon Digital Photo Professional
I like it a lot George! Personally I would go with a slightly tighter crop to cut out some of the black to the right, but other than that an...
That's just for the body! It's the lenses that you spend all your money on!
I know what you mean about not having the time, hard to squeeze in any photography at the moment!
I'd go with the Canon 50mm f/1.4 if it were my...
How you getting on with this badboy now you've had a few months to play with it, George?
Sigma 50mm 1.4 is generally about £20-30 more expensive than the Canon 50mm 1.4 tho...
Exciting stuff! Let us know how you get on with it!
It's not made of plastic for starters!
Another very good site for what each lens is capable of: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/for ... .php?f=107
24-105 f/4 L is next on my list....
If I could just get the body for £579 and not have to pay an extra £1700 for those 2 lenses like on that link I would seriously consider it
Considering the value of the 2 lenses it comes with is around £1700, its a good deal. Mainly because theres a new updated 5D mkII just come out,...
Haha, in the freezer baby!
They're back now. Some good shots! It amuses me how you've put feeding time, not dinner time
I like it!
Oh right, I might give it a go then, thanks LD
I use ExifViewer which is essentially the same thing, also available on the Mozilla addons page
Just put the feeding station up today, got our first customers pretty rapidly too!
Some birds in my garden today.
What a charming little fellow I thought
Until he started mooning me!
Yup, the 50mm f/1.8 is what they call the nifty-fifty. Good for portraits, also good for aquarium photography
If you fancy a DSLR, both Canon and Nikon offer very good "entry-level" models. I currently use a canon 400D which was the cheapest canon when I...
With my old P+S which took disposables, and my videocam, I found whenever I left the battery in the camera unused for any length of time it seemed...
someone bites their nails :P :P

thanks ceg, you come through for us again!
thats really cleared up the issue for me, many thanks!
im pretty sure the 50 f/1.8 is gonna be my next camera-related purchase
once my bank account has recovered from setting the...
ok, thats for all the help saintly! :D
whats the difference between a prime and a macro then, as I always assumed the 50mm f/1.8 could be used for macro photography?
Whats the difference between the 50mm f/1.8, and the 50mm f/2.5 Macro?
I understand the aperture is a little wider on the 1.8, but why is it not...
I wasnt aware of this, just ordered some stuff from china. How much did it sting you for?
Shop around on the net, Jessops is insanely expensive, you'll find it much cheaper. I think I saw one for approx £360 on ebay including p+p
I've just been looking at your Flickr Tom, and your work is incredible! How did you get to be so good?! and at only 17 too!
Teach me how! LOL
It's actually stuffed and just stapled onto the branch sticking out of the water
For portraits / macro / aquarium photography the Canon 50mm f/1.8 http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product ... ?sku=12814 is a good entry level...
I agree with head is a little awkward to adjust, but I've not found it to be too problematic
I've been using a Velbon CX640 Tripod, is serves me fine, light, pretty sturdy. But then I don't use it a whole lot currently
yeah, chinese seller called 0216everydaygoals. They have quite a few of them for sale
good shout on the bag LD, I've been looking for a decent bag for my DSLR for some time
Just ordered me one of these off eBay today
