One of my favourite tanks!
Where did you get it from? My first point of call would be to contact the retailer
A twin standpipe is generally quieter than a durso
Having spent 3 years working in the aquatics trade, I would say that the vast majority of aquarists are male from what I observed
Wow, never seen those before. The colouring on the males is amazing though!
Re: New journal, sometime in the future.
I'm sure he doesnt care that its overstocked. It's just a pretty ornament to him, he just paid for someone to set it up/maintain it for him.

Like mark said it depends what you want it for.
If you want to replace your 18-55 then the 17-55 f/2.8 is a fantastic lens
I've always been told actinic promote algae.
This sounds like a job for clive!

Don't go Mark. Don't care about what others think or say, do it for yourself and your own personal pleasure and development within the hobby.
The best EF-S lens imo is the 17-55mm f/2.8, blows the kit lens out of the water, is a bit pricey tho
I agree with all the above regarding the 1.8, in terms of what you get for the money you spend, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal on any...
