    Vaseline can damage the O-ring depending on what it's made of. These O-rings are designed to seal ungreased. IF you are going to grease o-rings in aquarium cannisters Silicone Grease is least likely to cause damage.

    Same for me. Personally I don't see it making much if any difference to the seals. I rarely clean my canister filter but when I do, I also clean and lube the seals with silicone grease to hopefully prolong their life.

    Lubricating Eheim O rings and gaskets with ?

    Just a quick update. I managed to get silicone grease from scuba diving equipment retailer. The grease lubricates and conditions rubber products such as O-rings. Thanks for the tip ltsai :thumbup:

    New impeller shaft

    Got my new shaft today, its fits all ok. Do i put some silicone grease on it to lube it or not, i noticed another pump i got new has a slight grease covering on the shaft.
