Cheers lads , looks a bit like Costia and a bit like columnaris . I read lake kubuto fish are prone to Columnaris. I set up another tank about a week ago using some media from an existing filter so I,ve quarantined it , not ideal but will have to do for now.

Just bought some lake kubuto rainbow fish from maidenhead aquatics , got them home and noticed some white marks on one of them and a lump near its tail , I can take some more photos if its not clear from the photo. Apart from the marks and lump the fish appears very healthy.

I,ve seen them in Maidenhead , cant remember if it was Stokesley or York branch

From this To this in about 4 weeks New tank started 6 weeks ago plants added 4 weeks ago except for H.Polysperma which was planted from the start , very little algae , dosing 1/10 ei salts from sponsor and 1ml per 50 litre liquid carbon.

I have some five banded barbs , Puntius pentazona, they are always active , shoal nicely but not always , quite shy so u will need some dither fish , beautiful little fish , btw stop pretending u wear the trousers. ps nice tank

Maybe low tech is an incorrect description of my tank but I still wouldn't call it high tech , if you set up a tank that has parts of low and high tech then maybe I have a medium tech aquarium , have the terms high and low tech actually been defined or is it just a general opinion ?

Just did an update of my journal .

Update 1 week later Added 3 large aponetogen crispus from old tank and moved filter to opposite side , flow blows them both towards centre and improves circulation hopefully.

Very similar to my tank , I have moler clay instead of akadama , dosing 10 % ei , 1 ml easy carbo per 50 ml , so will watch with interest.

Just pulled this from old tank to go in new tank , new it was big but not this big

I,m about to put some mature ceramic noodles from an existing filter into a new filter , the heater in the new tank is set to the same temp as the old tank but seeing as heaters aren't all calibrated exactly the same will it be ok. So putting mature noodles into water that is maybe 1 degree...

I was thinking about buying a 140 litre wheelie bin for water changes , they,re made from polypropylene so safe for aquariums toxicity wise and leak safe for keeping in the front room overnight , anyone else use one of these or any other ideas for water storage, what does anyone else use ?

Is the tank one of the ones in your sig ? Also did the substrate stay separate and tidy or did it end up mixed and did the peat turn the water brown. I think the tropica substrate is similar to jbl aqua basis which I have now and would cost about £24 for the roma , so might be an option .
