    Plinth cabinet question.

I have a cabinet made for a 30" x12" aquarium. Rather than waste the cabinet I would like to use it for a 400x400x400mm cube. My question is, could I stand the cube on a "plate" of some type on the cabinet. I can't get my head around how the weight would be distributed! Cheers.

Hi, I have 2 Co2 supermarket standard set-ups. One hasn't missed a beat since I set it up. The other one, I just cannot get to give a steady controlled bubble count. I can get it set up, one bubble per second or whatever, then when I check it the next day it's one bubble per 5 minutes!!! Any...

Thanks Darrel. I ain't got no bubbles at all as I've gone back to low tech!!! It's just that I worked with CO2 in one way or another for a number of years and suddenly thought about it laying as a blanket on the top of the water.

  59. oldbloke

Best and simplest way to inject CO2?

Thanks Foxfish. Yes, reactor! So, the CO2 inlet needs to be not to far down the tube for the bubble to be swept away and not too near the top so it doesn't pop straight to the surface? If there is a pocket of CO2 at the top, does some of this get dissolved through the surface? Cheers.

  61. oldbloke

Best and simplest way to inject CO2?

Dumb question, but how exactly do these CO2 diffusers work? I assume a pocket of gas builds up in the top of the tube, is this then just absorbed into the water? And please remember, I am old and simple and need things spelling out......

If you decide to remove the filter inlet guard so you can place your CO2 diffuser right under the inlet, when you later decide to move the diffuser to a different position in the aquarium, ALWAYS remember to replace the guard. Otherwise, your fish will end up as mince, FFS :banghead:

    Filter airlocked, which diffuser?

No mate, the flow rate is fine. It's hard to say whats going on inside the filter cos you can't see, of course, but I think it's very possible that all the bubbles could join together to form a big one, then when that goes into the impeller..... I guess it would be better if it was a fine mist...
