Vazkez, I think you are mistaking the product Glenda is talking about, It's not a fert, it's a water conditioner ;) For such a small amount of water top up, if your tap water has no chloramine, I would just let the water sit for 24 hours then use

Trim off the leaves that have the algae, they should soon recover and send out new growth

Can you buy aquarium safe long sleeve gloves?. Never looked before, but think now would be a good purchase. Vet gloves be ok you think? One time use, then throw away.

You can keep them, just put them on some wood or rock closer to the substrate so they are not so close to the lights, they prefer it a bit shaded :)

I woldn't worry too much about the science about it, basically it's just a way of feeding your plants using dry salts that you can either add directly to your tank, or add to bottles with water, that you measure out in ml's. There are other products that will feed your plants, but the EI salts...

Sorry to hear about this :( I have a dog so will wear disposable gloves next time I dose him for fleas/ticks, just to be on the safe side. Had always washed my hands thoroughly after, but just goes to show how careful one must be during and after using treatments and the like for other pets.

Quick update, plant seems to be doing ok, popped it into a little pot for the time being, the roots are just touching the water, noticed a few new shoots and roots ! Now, just need to set up a riparium :lol:

Well done spotting it, this kinda makes me a bit paranoid now about buying/obtaining shrimp/fish. Where did you get your shrimp, a friend or shrimp retailer? (Don't mention where from if retail, just curious !)

Personally I would try and wean them slowly onto other foods ie a good quality crushed flake and other live/frozen food before transfering them, gradually reducing the brine shrimp diet, sticking to just one type of food for a long time might not be good long term

I keep a couple of containers of vinegar eels on the go, and have daphnia in the summer. Micro worms etc give me the heebie jeebies!

Echo the above about Aqua Essentials, not only are their plants good quality, they package them so carefully before posting! I have also bought plants from P@H, depends on the store location, some I have seen are good at keeping their plants, some are terrible..

I think it may depend on what turtles you are planning to keep, some turtles eat gravel, and it might not be a good idea to keep them on gravel I would probably go for sand (obv not with a ug filter!) large stones etc and a good external filter

While that is a great little filter, it's just not powerful enough to turn over the water in your tank for a good flow, I think you will have to add another filter, or at least a powerhead keep that one by all means, it will certainly help to distribute flow

I know for sure that I would rather take the time to have a healthy tank full of plants learning what they need in terms of lighting ferts co2 and regular water changes, clean filter etc. and finally adding fish after those few weeks, than look at a tank of 'goo' sitting in my living room and...

...........and they also eat guinea pigs............
