The Next Episode - 800 litres

I just found some scrap Perspex so had an idea. Why don't I make a "mini episode" with no filtration or heating especially suited to a Siamese fighting fish........... ......of course not :D:angelic::rolleyes: It's a little plant pot on stilts  I've just planted it with...

Yeah that's true. For me, the background is just distracting me from what is a great scape

Looking good mate, good luck with the new scape. Do you know what you're doing with it yet? I've just ordered a similarly proportioned 72x24x15 so looking for inspiration, or to just blatantly pinch ideas really :D

The Next Episode - 800 litres

It could be, I'll get a photo from the same angle as June, but I do understand what he means. Like Mick Dk mentioned somewhere else in the thread about creating a hedge. Once the big swords round the back kick in, it should look a bit better, but me sat here now looking at it, I'm not thinking...

The Next Episode - 800 litres

Cheers martin. Agree with the flatness. That's all the bleheri. I do have uraguayensis, grandifloras and radicans at the back which should be up and out by now, but they're just shaded a bit by the wood. I've already been thinking about this and have 2 options. Pull them and temporarily plant...

Quick phone pic update to prove this still exists :woot: Since the last update I've been working away constantly, so the tank has been running super low tech (neglected :angelic::lol:) I managed to spend quite a few hours on it today, clean the filters, pull some plants which weren't doing too...

    My amanos have disapeared

How big is your tank? They're experts at hiding! I had 2 and can count on one hand the number of times I saw them. Apart from the odd glimpse, the only time I've really seen them is when I did a complete tank strip down to move them into another tank, and when I got up in the middle of the...

I might give this a bash but have a couple of questions :) 1 - What happens to the 10 aquariums? Do the winners of the first heat get to keep these? ;) 2 - Are we designing the hardscape with plants in mind or just as a hardscape only tank? If I left a big pocket in some rock for example...

Good ol' Stanley type blade for me. I always run a finger nail down the edge though, just to make sure there are no nicks. Sponge, mags, or anything that could hold 1 grain of sand scare me :nailbiting: Cheap paint scrapers also disturb me lol Let your algae/film grow, then run it down the...

What exactly causes BBA? Part 2 - Bacterial imbalance

No scientific reply from me, but I had BBA in my heavily fed but heavily filtered tank, in low light and in high light areas. Only thing in common with where the BBA grew was that it was a high flow area. I either scraped the wood to remove it, or dosed the rocks with easycarbo to kill it and...

I use mine with a reactor. (although I got the "jebao", just before they rebranded) I have the 9000 on my 800 litre running through a DIY/20" water filter and no problems at all. Very quiet and highly recommended

    Dan's 45p - A Blank Canvas.....

The only problem I had with HC was its tiny roots, easily up rooted by fish, other than that was ok. Just buy a pot of each, interplant them and let them get on with it. If the HC seems to be doing well you can always pull the MC.
  26. NC10

    What exactly causes BBA?

I've got some on my rocks where they hit the substrate in the centre of the tank, 33 inch from the light. In the lowest flow area of the tank, directly in front of the weir, there is no sign of it on the rocks. This gets the same amount of light as the right hand side too, where there is BBA...

The CT1 is silly expensive. We sometimes use it at work when we need to seal underwater. HA6 is the norm for aquariums. >Link< About a quarter of the price.
