    Angelfish with oto's??

I've kept angels in my tank, which is about 10X turnover. At the moment I have discus in this tank, and they're thriving. They don't seem to mind the flow at all.

AUTO-CLEANING GOLDFISH TANK? Experiment in progress...

Hi I love your goldfish tank. It's so nice to see someone doing it 'properly'. I keep cranium callimistratum in my discus tank... It is a heavy substrate feeder though so you might run into problems. Mine are over three foot tall now and they've started splitting into new plants at the...

    The trees of Helferi

Well, I'm about to strip down the tank and start again! So I thought I'd post this. It's not the most well thought out scape, in fact it's not thought out at all, I just chucked everything in and waited for it to grow. I quite like it though. Spec: 12 litre optiwhite 11watt arc pod...

What do discus eat? Mine are eating frozen food at the moment, a mixture of stuff like bloodworm, daphnia, brine shrimp etc... and something called 'discus food' - I don't know what it is but I suspect beef heart and some type of greenery. But guess what? After 30 years trading, my lfs has...

    pets at home "quiz"

Urgh I hate the attitude of the lady who works in our local Pets at Home. She thinks she knows everything there is to know, and talks in a really patronising way. Then she told me that a siamese fighter fish shouldn't live alone and needs to be in a community... I'm not going back there even...

all better, I think. I treated them to a course of Myxazin, which wasn't nice for my hairgrass, but has fixed my fish's eye. He's still darker than he used to be though, but is eating very well, looking healthy so I'm not too worried.

Anyone got advice for working in an LFS?

I agree. I've worked in two LFS's and it really does kill your enthusiasm. Sometimes it was alright, I enjoyed looking after the fishies, and helping customers. But a lot of the time it was 'My kid wants a really small tank with a goldfish in it' ' Do you know goldfish grow quite big for...

To change 50% water of my 100gal, takes me an hour but doesn't involve a lot of effort. That's with a hose pipe syphoning water out into the bath, then another hose pipe filling from the tap in the kitchen. If I'm cleaning filters, I do it in the bath while the water is draining (I keep the...

I don't feed my otos anything, they seem to find what they need around the tank. It is a big (100gals) established, very well planted tank though. If the others are alright, and the oto is behaving normally, then maybe your oto is a male and that's why he's thin? I find my females a lot...
