Hi Steveno, i have used the following methods before to play with height in a scape, all work well - 1) Use stockings filled with lava rocks, sand or any other inert medium, top it up with amazonia 2) Use thermocol as the base, add a few heavy rocks on top and top it up with amazonia 3)...

    Rotala Rotundifolia - Growth Issues

Thanks, Darrel! So it appears that its a ratio game where either Ca or Mg can be off.. and looking at plant behaviour to dose is the way to go.. curling tips indicate Ca deficiency? Pale growth indicates Ca surplus causing Fe blockage and dosing Mg helps? Seems odd so many hobbyists call...

    Rotala Rotundifolia - Growth Issues

Does increasing Mg ppm help in cases where rocks leach out Ca++ or the water is hard due to excess Ca? Rotala Rotundifolia - Growth Issues

I had severely stunted tips of rotalas, and i have rocks in my scape.. assuming they leach out Ca++ i addedd Mg to 5ppm weekly and that has solved the stunting, certainly iron doesnt cause stunting..
