    Help me choose a plant!

I've just planted a lot of the tank hence the smaller plants! Co2 can be added as well as higher lights, but I just enjoy the simplicity of low tech tanks! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    Help me choose a plant!

Evening crew! I need help! I want a plant to go in my low tech tank, the plant needs to be a background plant, preferable bushy! Along the back I have (left to right) Heteranthera zosterfolia, limnophila aromatica, GAP, Rotala rotifundia, then cabomba aquatica. Infront of the gap is a number...

Andys HC propagator step by step

Actually, one more Q! What is the purpose of the heat? GI increase humidity or does keeping the plants warm aid growth? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    Advice needed- external filter media

I personally would buddy! All the do is reduce flow!! and you can leave your poly pads in yeah! Although more flow will be gained with less resistance! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Andys HC propagator step by step

So, I've read this thread and want to give it a go! Some questions for you! I have a south facing window in my loft conversion which is reasonably hot and gets sun all day Kong, would I need a heated propagator or could I get away without? If not would an old reptile heat mat work?! Sent from...

haha well that’s impressive! you have a better looking tank than I’ve ever had! the planted tank I have is using a HORRIFIC old fluval roma with upgraded everything, so the glass is in very poor condition! it’s quite embarrassing! but I was using it to experiment and play around "find my style"...

    New 'silicone less' tanks?

agreed! i think although most people don’t show it, they begrudge spending the amount they do on tanks and cabinets and other accessories, without forking out another £1000 extra on a tank

    A fool and his money...

I don’t have one! I have kept fish for nearly 10 years but I’m reasonably new to "proper" planted tanks! [ one year] so didn’t feel worthy of putting a journal up on here just yet! but when I start setting my new tank up I think I might brave it! just need to get a few more bits and...

    Advice needed- external filter media

I have been advised by a number of members in here that in a heavily planted tank bio media isn't imperative, bacteria grows everywhere including mechanical filter media! I have been running both my filters without any ceramics in for the last 6 months! I didn't even get a spike when I removed...

Its hard to find a tank that would fit in well, plus the misses is a bloody nightmare for things looking right! Haha I've just had a look at the TMC range! Looks very promising! Looks good! Looking forward to seeing it! Thinking about setting up a ada 60p for the dining room! As usual I will have to get permission from the boss! I just struggle with forking out ada prices! (True Yorkshire man at heart, short arms long pockets!) I just really like how clean they look...

    My new low tech attempt

Having a lo-tech tank myself I have been slowly building up a collection of high-tech gear ready to go over to the pressurised world, but this tank has genuinely got me thinking otherwise! Such a beautiful scape! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Just thought I'd let you know pressurised co2 is on the cards for the next couple of weeks! I have 2 2kg FE's and all the equipment except the reg! I have also got a starter unit to upgrade my lights to 24wt t5's along side the 20wt t8's! I have increase my flow by changing the filter inlet...

I have very soft water which could start issues! But yes I am going down the co2 route! I have diy now with my 125litre and it does its job! I manage to keep rotala rotifundia, Heteranthera zosterfolia, limnophila aromatica, a number of different crypts as well as about 4 or 5 more species...

    Running 24wt in a 39wt t5 starter unit?

Thanks ian, i assumed as much! i got the starter unit for £7 off ebay, so im not that fussed, although he did advertise it as "24/39 watt starter unit" i now know it is in fact a 39 wt ONLY unit! oh well, guess i'll HAVE to get a bigger tank! :angelic:

    Running 24wt in a 39wt t5 starter unit?

I know this may be stupid, but i have a 39wt t5 starter unit but the bulbs won't fit in my tank! Can I run 24wt bulbs with it or is there any t5 bulbs that will fit in a 800mm length tank with this starter unit? Apologies with the stupidity of this question, I've only just joined UKAPS and...

Thanks Andy! I used to live in chellaston! Near the new estate! I have fluvial 206 with all the foams and ceramics in. I've been told by Clive on here to remove the ceramics to increase the flow! The filter was mature at start up using a well established tanks media. I do 30-40% w/c weekly and...
