Reusing substrate after massive filamentous diatom outbreak

Been dealing with a ton of diatoms the last few months, and nothing seems to help at this point. Instead ill do a complete rescape and make a ton of changes ( learning from my mistakes.. ). But im thinking a want to reuse my TMC nutrasoil once again. It has been running two setups for a...

    Christmas moss algea spreading

I think you are absolutely right. The ones i see on google looks completely similar. I had some luck the first month or so. I kept cleaning it really well, moved my light to the front on top of my cardinalis and repens. However they have really exploded again the last two weeks. I can't get my...

    Christmas moss algea spreading

I started getting a little algea around my christmass moss. Which was rather easy to remove on a day to day basis, but it has spread lightning fast to the rest of my tank at this point. I haven't found an algea similar, and i have no idea how to get rid of it. It is about to consume my tank.

Nede help choosing plants for light roots

To be honest, i think im just really confused. I really enjoy the dutch style, and they look "easier" to recreate. But i just don't have the time to maintain them. And the red moor root i choose for this layout seem more suitable for a natural style aquarium. And my plant knowledge is still...

Nede help choosing plants for light roots

My tank has been sitting empty for the last month or so. I've been trying to pick out a layout and plants that suits my taste. But it is proving harder than expected. First of all. My tank is 60x45x40 which makes the scape i was originally aiming for hard to create. Most of my inspiration has...

Looking for well written guides on how to prune and trem

The title pretty much says it alll. Looking for a well written site, or litterature that thoroughly explains how to trim most common plants used in aquascapes. I'm in the process of a rescape, and I'm tinkering with the idea of a dutch inspired scape. But i've messed up my original idea before...

    Re-using TMC nutrasoil

I have had a serious cyanobacteria problem the last few months and since I will be doing a total rescape soon. I was wondering if reusing the old substrate is a good idea. I would siphon the substrate out into a sift into a bucket. That way i can get rid of build up in the soil. The tank has...

    60x45x40 Iwagumi tank

When do people generally trim their cubas? It is starting to cluster up a bit near the glass, and certain spots in the tank. I am still not satisfied with the right side of the tank .. Gonna let it run a week or so and see how it turns out.

    60x45x40 Iwagumi tank

I agree with you. I even moved them a bit to the right for the same reason. You can see it in between the last two pictures ;) Maybe ill move the greens behind the right rock, and place them there. They will get high enough to be properly seen, without taking away too much attention

Bubbles forming on top of water

It "finally" happened again.. But i think you are absolutely correct zozo.. But the surface agitation from my lily pipes is not enough. Even when it forms the little whirlpool.. Ill get me a surface skimmer of some sort at some point.

Alright, so here's a little update. Pictures are usually taken a few days apart. 11th of Jan. 15th of Jan. 16th of Jan. And last picture is taken tonight after a good cleaning. Still a little cloudy, but look at the progress from last picture! They have really gotten dense over the past...

    60x45x40 Iwagumi tank

Been waiting 7months to be able to post this, but finally time has come! This is my first aquascape, after having a few years break from my old 400l mbuna tank! My original idea was a very simple iwagumi setup with a gorgeous full cuba carpet. Eventually I'll put in some proper stemplants in...

Bubbles forming on top of water

The tank has been running for a week now. And i've done waterchanges everyday. But this morning 25% of the surface was covered in little bubbles.. Co2 has not been running over night, and my lilypipe is sitting so the little whirlpool is forming. Any idea what is causing this? Protein on the...

Setting up hardscape and i could use some critique

Alright, just to clarify for everyone. The last picture was just to show the selection of rocks i have. There is no way i can fit them all inside my tank ;) That would fit a 2-300l Tank

Setting up hardscape and i could use some critique

Alright thank you :) Thats what i tried to say earlier. I have some sweet stones individually, but unfortunatly the "good" sides point in opposite directions, I wanted to have them all point to the left because my in and out take are on the right side of the tank.

Setting up hardscape and i could use some critique

Thank you all for your inputs :) I will keep practicing, and set up scapes until i find the one i like. They have been set up with different height levels, i just didnt think of showing it. I wont be able to use the full setup unless I get a 100x50cm tank haha. there are more stones than it...

Got myself 30-45lbs seiryo stone and been trying to work out some hardscapes over the last couple of weeks worth showing off ... But damn you guys make this look easy! Aquarium sizing

Thank you Finn :) Pretty much the same conclusion i've come up with. I'll try to stik with a 7-10cm bottom layer sloping at the back. But mainly ill try to find some proper sized seiryo stone. Somewhere around 20-25cm for the main stone. Hopefully pointy to get some height on it. That will hope...

    Aquarium sizing

I have given up on trying to find someone that can ship a tank from the UK to Denmark. Instead I will have one made by my own specifications.. I wanted a 60x45x30 tank like the one TMC makes..
