i made a sump and was wondering if the water suppose to smell liek an old wet ragg. it also has some nats in it. is that normal and is there suppose to be good circulation in it too?
i used a clear plastic walmart ultility box and vinyl tubing from lowes to make it. and some pvc for overflow
okay , i recently got a columbian shark :(. i found out as it matures it will need brackish to marine water. I already have alot of plants and was wondering if i add some sea salt, then the plants would all die? except for the java fern ( that i no, rest are amazon swords or similar). any solution ?
i recently bought a hagen surface skimmer for one of my two fluval 305 filters. some time the surface skimmer would force air bubbles down the tube and into the filter. is this fine if it happens like every hour? or wud it ruin the filter in the long run? the skimmer is adjustable to slower...
my lamp i got it used. its a 48' single florescent light. when i go to turn it on it flickers for like 5 seconds to turn on. wud this shock(as in freak out) the fishes? to fix this i need a new ballast? my smaller lamp(for 10 gallons , used as back center light :D) doesnt flicker but charges...
would an ordinary rock from the ditch change the water chemestry of an aquarium? lava rock? other rocks? rocks in general? i dont feel like BUying a 10-30$ rock. thats way to expensive.
what is a surface skimmer good for? i know it removes debris from the top, though what else r the benifits? i notice alota debris when lookin from the side up to the light, though if i had surface movement wouldnt it just sink the debris?
