This is what I can use my spare wood on. Fantastic idea.

    90p Lid

Thanks, I'll give that a read. I noticed the covers for the aqua one tank I saw today had cutouts.
  3. NathanG

    90p Lid

I found a set that came with the tank and plonked them on to get a feel for the looks. Not sold on them, they look like the back of a picture frame. I went to the Abyss today to have a nosey around and the aqua one tanks have a simple plastic strip to hold lids on. Looks different.

    90p Lid

That's a great idea, i could have sworn i looked here but the shipping was crazy, now it's only £5. I'll get ordering. Still assuming i may need to cut a piece out for the outflow?

    90p Lid

I do like the fan idea and they eat crickets and worms. Nothing i'm bothered about escaping. They even eat raw beef and fish i believe. Guess they could have a sliver of my steak ;)
  6. NathanG

    90p Lid

I noticed a few people have the lids a jar, mine would always be a jar. Assuming this would be enough tbh.

I was thinking similar. I may speak to a glass shop also. Thanks for the thought.

    90p Lid

Hello everyone, Getting back into the hobby after a bit of downtime, this time looking at modifying my ADA 90p into a Paludarium to home FBT and fish. My first issue is getting a lid/cover to keep humidity and frogs inside. Has anybody bought anything that would look nice to cover a 90p? I...

Ahh cheers Darrel, i can't catch a break with this tank. Hope it's the only one. They do look awesome in that shot mind.

Just checked on the tank and found this little cretin, pretty dead but did squiggle when i pulled it out. Is it a fly that's got trapped? http://imgur.com/a/kdDCa

    Christmas moss algea spreading

How did you get on? Battling the same stuff myself. I did a 4day black out and it disappeared but couldn't get my light sorted so it's reared its head and really bad. This and green hair algae is killing me.

DIY Project DIY ADA Style Aquarium Stand

Water based primer is fine but as you say it may need a layer of protection as a last coat. I didn't bother, if i do have any issues id just build a new one a little differently. Boat varnish would be ideal. When you go to get the parts i would recommend the 3.5x50 SPAX...

    Is this Green Spot?

It's filling in like mad now. The bottom rock i have is nearly completely green, although i did try to attach some moss but i buggered it up a little so waiting for it to possibly grow. Unfortunately its spread to the glass but the shrimp will hopefully take care of most of it. Will keep this...

    Is this Green Spot?

Yeh i don't mind the look especially when it fills the rocks completely. I guess if it's not harmful and the shrimp im adding will keep it in check it will look nice. Cheers Thanks, still early days yet. Need my other plants but not decided yet tbh. Will probably leave the algae for now and...

    Is this Green Spot?

Thanks. I was wondering if the best idea was to use H202 and scrub to prevent it coming back? I'll see how it goes with just a regular scrub tomorrow during WC.

    Is this Green Spot?

https://goo.gl/photos/u53Dd9e5yXUWyGaW6 Noticed it a few days ago but it was quite small. Done a bit of research but still unsure if its green algae or green spot. If there is any difference. Tank is about 45 days old with carpet about 30 days in. High light with high co2. Everything seems...

Critique my hardscape What do you think?

Had a go today but really can't keep that big rock up without it either putting pressure on the glass below or making me too nervous. I've used rock C to prop it up. Seems stable now. Took F out so now need to smash it up to make use as it's quite big. Updated the album with some pics as I...

Critique my hardscape What do you think?

Really need to start a journal but wanted your quick thoughts and advice in where to plant these stones. One is quite large as I wanted to add a sense of height. It's difficult working with the big rock but it seems supported even now with one 9l bag and propped up in the supporting stone. I...

    Lighting advice for a 90p (90x45)

    Lighting advice for a 90p (90x45)

I was surprised they didn't fit either. The goose-neck screws need an inch either side or at the back. If it comes to it i could use the mounting arms and pull the tank out but its an extra £70 making it £650 plus the ones i received were like jet engines taking off,. I want a carpet so the low...

    Lighting advice for a 90p (90x45)

I did look at the E-series but they dont seem to sell a 90cm version for some reason. Why they sell the A series single and not double like the E-series is baffling. The 45cm deep is my worry, the par at that distance probably wont cut it. Back to the drawing board i think. It's a shame the...

Place to buy plants NW area Manchester

If you've not been i would recommend it. Nothing better to see elsewhere around us. Problem is if you need a plant they don't have you will have to order anyway, they are updating the website apparently so hopefully it will state what plant species they have in stock.

Place to buy plants NW area Manchester

I can't find anywhere around Manchester to get plants apart from the abyss in stockport. All the LFS sell basic stuff. Lighting advice for a 90p (90x45)

I'd be happy with the 2 a160's tbh, just liked the look of the arcadia over the tank design. Will probably go for them as they tick most of the boxes. Cheers alto, i think you hit the nail on the head about the shading on the edges, been down to TGM today to pick up some rock and had a chat...

  36. NathanG

    Arcadia vs aquarien eco

Well i have both and i would stick with the stretch all day. The aquarien is a decent light but didn't run it long term since the arcadia's LED's are much better. The aquarien seemed too bright and not aesthetically pleasing plus the build quality isn't great. If you want to save the £45 and...

    Lighting advice for a 90p (90x45)

Nearly got my new ada 90p setup but wanted a bit of advice on lighting. I have seen a few journals especially ryans 120p and noticed he's using 2 kessil a360's. 2 of them would be too much for my tank so considered 2 a160's but i'm not sold on them yet. High nitrate?

I see no way to distinguish between 40-80 ppm on that card. Not sure what test kits are actually recommended tbh. The mainstream nutrafin or tetra kits are bashed to high heaven and api seems to be accepted somewhat. I must admit i've only tested my water once in 5 months via a LFS, i just...

Just wanted to clear things up incase somebody cones looking. I think I caused my own problems by having my sponge filter near the outtake pipe. :banghead: Air must have been getting in to cause the leaks. My own fault. I got a replacement and its been fantastic. Without the sponge filter...

    Quietest external filtration

+1 for the 2217. I like the ADA idea but the price is ridiculous. I did see some £100 ada style filters on some Chinese websites. Would like to see somebody put an eheim pump on one and see how it goes.

TNC Complete and Carbon. Do full recommended dose on water change and 2-4ml a day on the fert and 5ml of carbon for 125L. No issues here. Most of the time i just gauge it not measure.

Thats the main reason why im doing my own aaron. The old style roma cabinet is the worst. Even struggle to get a clasic 600 in nevermind 2. Go for it, the others have turned out fantastic and even if you mess up its only £20-40.

What do you use for water changes

Can't seem to edit my post? Just wanted to update on the aqueon flow valve. It leaks everywhere and does not screw onto the hozelock tap adapter. It comes with a tap adapter that works but not very robust. Maybe a waterbed fill valve like the python will work better.
