    Dark Start

Hi all, again I can testify that the method works like a charm. Used it ever since starting the hobby 6 years ago and now in the process of creating my second IAPLC aquascape using this method. Key is to let ammonia levels decrease to 0 (which usually takes 2-3 weeks from setup). Definitely a...

Separating Ada Amazonia Soil from Sand

Hi, if you're looking for a more 'natural' way of seperating the sand from soil you can use the hardscape/plants to do this if you place them roughly on the line of the sand/soil crossover point. If you couple this with having the sand at a slightly higher level than the soil and make sure the...

    TGM's Fishless Filter Cycling

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with The Green Machine's fishless filter cycling schedule using the ada substrate layers? It seems to be a neat way to get around the daily water changes required in the first few weeks of setup if you are using ada aquasoil (the key...

    ADA 90P - "Low Roar"

Great scape, loving the details! Was wondering how do you find the tropica specialised ferts with the ada substrate compared to the ada ferts range? Was there any reason you went for this?

New Chihiros RGB Vivid - looks VERY promising

Haha very true! Just fyi I asked the 2hr aquarist what settings he uses and he said he liked the ratio of 100% red to 50% green to 60% blue. I'm guessing you can then tune up or down whilst maintaining the same ratio to get the right light intensity for your setup. As mentioned previously it...

New Chihiros RGB Vivid - looks VERY promising

Great - thanks both! I think I will go for the vivid II as been hearing great things so far. Any recomendations for the red, blue, green spectrum settings/ratio? I do like the colour rendition used by HeYi in this video. I don't know if anyone knows the setting that he used on the vivid II rgb?

    Cost of RO?

Hi @jaypeecee, I currently own a Ada 90f tank so I went for the 50gallon per day Ro unit from osmotics and look to fill up one 25L water butt for each water change (takes about 45 mins to do through my bath tap at around 50% efficiency). You can find the unit here...

    Cost of RO?

I've had my Ro unit for over 3 years and it's still going great. The main cost is ever 6 months I replace the pre filter membrane and fill up with deionisation resin. Other than that it's a lot cheaper in the long run than going to your LFS

    Aquarium backgrounds

I believe the lightground is a cheaper version of the ada light screen and makes a nice finish to the aquascape. Not yet available in the UK but I got in touch with the distributor who said they will be available here soon

    Journal Nelson's Wabi's

Hi Guys, I've currently got hygrophilia pinnatifida as a background plant in my shallow tank. I am however finding that the emersed growth has burnt tips on its leaves, with new growth above the water surface being limited and drying out. It is however thriving in its submersed form. Any ideas...

Twinstar SP Series LED for ADA 90f

Hi, I have just purchased an ADA 90f (L90cm, W30cm, D20cm) tank and needed some advice on whether to go for the new Twinstar 600SP or 900SP to hang above the tank. I am planning on getting medium difficulty plants from Tropica, however wasn't sure if the 600SP would offer the coverage for the...
