Hi,
Just wondered if anybody has tried the Eden 501 gravel cleaner?
Sounds like a good idea to filter the water when cleaning the gravel as i tend to find i have not finished cleaning it when doing water changes.
Thoughts appreciated.
Hi,
Any tips on pruning moss to stop it going all over the tank. I appreciate i could remove the wood it is attached to but don't really want to disturb everything.
Thanks.
Hi,
As you will see from the photos, on my gloss black Fluval cabinet the plastic coating is starting to come off at the edges. Does anybody know how to repair this please?
Thanks in advance.
Guess i should have said i have holes drilled in the bottom of the tank with vertical pipes as below, so i am looking for the "floating inlet pipe" to fit in that.
Hi,
I am running an external Fluval 306 in my 160L Fluval Studio tank. I remember seeing one of George Farmers videos where he was using a floating inlet (so it also acted as a surface skimmer)
Has anybody come across these and if so where can i get one?
Thanks in advance.
Not sure about the mounting with regard to fish getting stuck at the back, but i have my eye on one of these for my 45L by Oase https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01FJQ2Q4W/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I1ZHNWXRIFAPGS&colid=QQUNM7IIJEQ2&psc=0
There external filters look good also. Decent price and good...
Hi, I got some Emerald Dwarf Rasbora for my 45L planted tank 2 weeks ago. They are fantastic little fish but i hardly see them as they are so shy. There are also some Cherry Shrimp in the tank, but i was wondering if it might be worth getting some "dither fish" to try and encourage them to come...
I have 2 in a 45L tank. If i split them up i.e. 1 in each of my two tanks would they stop laying eggs? Looking over as i type they are at it again!!! Perverts!!!:)
Well i ordered the Tropica plants from Birstall last week. They arrived yesterday and were all in good order. They even included instructions for looking after the plants after they have been cold in transit.
They kept me informed throughout the week of the status of my order and i would...
Hi,
I have a plant order arriving tomorrow, but wont be able to plant in the tank until the weekend. The potted plants are not a problem as i can put them straight in the tank which is cycling.
However part of the order includes some Tropica 1-2-grow plants which are in the growing media...
Spoke to them yesterday and to reiterate Michal550 they order the plants from Tropica direct as orders are received.
They place their orders on a Monday, plants arrive and are shipped on a Wednesday for delivery on Thursday.
Will give them a go and let you know.
Thanks,
George
Morning Keith,
I thought the idea was to have it central? Do you mean when looking from the front or side please?
The substrate is 9cm at the back and 3 cm at the front, admittedly this is not apparent with my pour photography, sorry. At this point i am not planning to have a carpet at the...
Mark 3. Reasonably happy i think. Not overly happy with the thinner piece of wood on the front left, but loathed to buy anymore and just chuck what i have in the bin. The two pieces of bog wood at the front are there to cover up the "stumps" of the other wood. I have some other Bog wood so i can...
Hi,
Not sure i have posted this in the correct forum?
Just wondered if anybody had used Birstall.co.uk (garden centre) for mail order plants and if so were the plants ok and the service good?
Thanks.
Hi,
Appreciate a bit of feed back on the below please (sorry about the furry wood, planning to clean it again tomorrow).
Hoping to create something along the lines of the below, but without the sand. Not sure if i need the rocks that i have in the tank at the moment as once planted it will...
Its not in use yet as i am in the early stages of re doing my 200L tank. Have tried it and it seems a lot brighter than the old T5's, very slim line also which is good.
I have 2 Nerite snails in the same tank as the Assassin snails and have not had a problem. The Assassins don't bother the Nerites as they are to big for them. I have done this previously in other tanks and never had a problem.
I put 2 Assassin snails in my 45l tank a couple of months ago and now haven't seen a snail for some weeks, so it would appear the little chaps have done the job!
I think the "Bucephalandra mini needle leaf" might be an option. Although the leaves look quite rounded, so nothing like a the small java fern i was looking for originally ha ha.
Hi,
Trying to mix 2 different root types, but struggling a bit to get a look i am happy with. Must have moved them around hundreds of times by now ha ha.
I do have another bit of the root on the left hand side in my 45L tank, which i am planning to liberate tomorrow. So i could add more...
Cant seem to find them on eBay apart from for the A-plus, but i have found them on the Hinterfeld site now for 73p more. I think my problem was their site has all the brackets under one listing which you then have to select from.
Think i will take the knock and order them together direct from...
There is a price difference of £37 between the A and the A plus. Plus i am not really looking for a high output LED. More light, more problems in my book. Just want to keep it simple. As Daveslaney has suggested i have emailed Hinterfield to see what they come back with.
Hi,
I am looking to buy the Chihiros A series (90cm) for my 200L tank, but as the tank is 94cm long i need the sliding brackets so it will fit. They are displayed in the photos on the web site, but are not listed in the "package includes" section. Do i need to buy them separately and if so...
Hi,
I have a Fluval Studio tank with 2 x 850mm T5 tubes. I want to upgrade to LED tubes. Looking on the web one Arcadia LED tube is £40. I would imagine i could get a half decent "proper" LED replacement light for £80 or not much more.
Are there any other cheaper suppliers of LED T5 tubes that...
Hi,
Once a planted tank is established is there any need to add a biological aquarium supplement such as Fluval Cycle or Easy Life Easystart after maintenance?
I am using Pure Aquarium "balls" weekly and will probably continue with these, but wondered if i am wasting my time with additional...
Hi,
Another LED question, sorry :)
I am looking to buy a cheap LED for my 45l Arc Tank (40cm H x 40cm W x 27cm D).
Firstly is there any need to go for RGB or is White/Blue ok? From what i have read the RGB maybe a bit of a nightmare with a timer as the cheaper LED's seem to go back to default...
Hi,
I purchased a 45L Arc tank from eBay to get back into having plants. The tank came with the Arcadia Ellipse 18w plant pro light https://www.warehouse-aquatics.co.uk/arcadia-ellipse-light-unit-plant-pro-freshwater-18-watt.html. As i suspect the tank is a few years old i wanted to replace the...
Evening, thanks for all of the advise.
The plants are coming from Plants Alive, so hopefully they will be snail free.
Bit conscious as i managed to import snails into my 190 Litre tank (which has never been planted). Guess they were a freebie from the LFS!
George
Hi,
I am sure this subject is covered somewhere in the Forum, but i cant find it.
Setting up a planted tank at the weekend and want to try to ensure any snails that are on the new plants are removed.
Have seen mention of a bleach solution on other sites, does this work?
Thanks,
George
Hello All,
Have decided to take the "plunge" back into planted aquaria. Used to have a planted tank some years ago but gave it up due to working abroad.
I have a 190 litre fluval which will eventually be planted, but have brought a 45 litre tank cheap on Gumtree to plant up in the meantime...
