I'm 100% no expert but I would agree that I think it needs a bit more height with the tank you have.
Take my advice with a pinch of salt as I'm a complete beginner and was just my opinion (my hardscape is in my profile pic).
Lovely tank and good luck!
Well its been incredible to see the difference now with the lights down. Really appreciate the support. I didn't think I had much of an algae problem until I've made these changes and the difference is huge. Makes my weekly deep clean so much easier!
No yet set up the Co2 but when I do I'll...
Well significant difference after lowering lighting to 7 hours and upping ferts.
Thank you everyone.
Just waiting for a few bits and then I'm going to set up a pressurised co2 system and see how much better it can get.
Cheers,
Owen
Cheers all, I've no upped the ferst and lowered lights. I'm also going to be making the step into pressurized Co2 and have all the bits on order for a FE set up.
Hi Mihai thanks for the information. All taken on and will try not to change to move to quickly.
The plants haven't changed since I planted them 2 months ago. They had been growing really well until last week.
Hi everyone,
I've got a new 23l Fluval edge with the standard led lighting.
I'm looking at upgrading the lighting to get better coverage. Has anyone got any recommendations as what to use with this type of tank?
Thanks everyone. I've ordered some TNC complete so will give that a go.
I've reduced my lighting to 7 hours.
I'll do a heavy water change 1 per week minium and maybe a smaller percentage mid week.
I'll also do a better job of cleaning the gravel
If anyone else can provide any tips please...
Hi everyone,
New to all this aquascaping. My first tank has been coming along nicely over the last 2 months. However, this week my plants seem to be melting alot more and the green luscious plants are starting to turn more brown. Not too sure what to change. My set up hasn't changed at all so...
Hi All, thanks for the advice. Yes, tank is full of plants.. In that case, i'll clean and rinse the foam in old tank water when doing water changes and the bio media I'll rinse off.
Saves me some money.
Thank you!
Morning Konsa,
Thanks for the info, I'm glad I don't have to do any testing. The shrimp are doing very well. One is already carrying eggs.
Fish wise I thinking guppies as apparently they can be OK in the small 6gallon tank. But happy to take advice. Appreciate most people have said to keep the...
Hi everyone,
I have a fluval edge 23L which is is full of plants (wouldn't call it heavily planted as I've gone for a fair bit of carpeting). The tank has been lifeless for about a month, with regular water changes, fertilizing and dosing with easycarbo. Plants are doing well, nice and green...
Good morning all,
Some advice please as I've got conflicting information in my fluval edge manual and the fluval website.
My filter is set up as a foam filter, biological biomax filter and then a carbon filter. How often should I be cleaning (rinsing in tank water) each of the filter media...
Hi Alto,
Yes the plan is to try my best with the stock set-up. However, I will may end up upgrading the lighting if I fail.
Co2 - At moment i'll just be dosing with easy carbo. I want to challenge and I'm in no rush for quick growth. Again if I'm failing i'll look at setting up a co2...
Hi Keith,
Yes the LH had side is the first thing you see as you enter the room and then you'd move to a front on view as you sat down to view / admire it.
I've tried to set it up so it looks natural and aesthetic both from the side LH view and then again as you sit down in front of it (hence...
Morning Everyone,
Thank you for replying to my post!
1. The main viewing point will be from the LH side ish view as you walk into the room, and with it being a very small tank I've had to cluster on the RH side slightly.
2. Plants I have are Eleocharis Parvula, marsilea hirsuta, lilaeopsis...
Evening All,
Making a start in my first ever scape.
What do you guys think of my hardscape so far?
Excuse the terrible photos and the dirty tank glass. It was just my grubby fingers from the outside.
Hi everyone.
I'm about to start my first aquascape project but I'm struggling to get my head around a few bits so some advice would be appreciated. I've taken on some advice already from previous posts so thanks again for that.
Tank: Fluval Edge 2.0 23l
Style: Iwagumi
Lighting - Standard...
Hi Rebel,
Thanks for the response. I may try and stay away from gas injection and go for a liquid set up. I do plan livestock and I am aware that over dosing the co2 can be lethal. If the margins are too small with this type of tank then I won't go down the co2 gas route.
I am very aware that...
Hi All,
Complete newbie here.
I have a fluval edge 23l and I want to know if anyone can recommend a beginner type Co2 kit. Don't want anything fancy as this will be my first attempt at aquascaping. I see that fluval do a small co2 kit - roughly how long does this last? How often will I be...
Hi Everyone,
Complete noob here. Basically a couple of week ago I decided I wanted a fish tank. I assumed i'd just get a tank, fill it with water and add some sunken pirate ships and done. Little did I know...
I knew nothing at all about proper aquascaping and the 'science' behind it. After...
