I had bentosi’s great looking fish but became a bit too boisterous when they went into breeding mode(55 lt tank), chasing and harassing the smaller tetras Ended up moving them on to someone with a bigger tank

I use black acrylic paint from the Works £1 a tube, roller it on, takes a few coats but quite durable

Certain ferns like Boston and asparagus, might work and I think they will grow in a tank as well Prayer plants maybe and the darker version of spider plants grew well next to my tanks

Agree with Wookii, never been able to keep daphnia in my tanks long term, copepods maybe I cultivate daphnia in a shoebox style Tupperware feed yeast or green water in the summer Have u tried black worms

Snake plants and peace lilies work Round my tanks Pothos of various colours grow well, in and out of tanks, taking cuttings is easy Philodendron sp might work but tend to be more pricey

If u do get the ziss, get the version with the 2 mesh sides, the one with the mesh bottom , u lose a lot of live food thru it

I have the Ziss breeder box, great for raising Cory fry, imo too small for spawning unless very small tetras

IMO you should of won, the winner though good was a very generic South American biotope

I think there’s an article in the November/December issue of Amazonas about this plant, worth having a look

Great article, I love having lots of leaves n twigs n pods in my tanks, nothing better than seeing a fish foraging amongst the botanicals,IMO it promotes more natural behaviour, better colour and is a source of free food, as microfauna have a place to hide and multiply

IME mahogany bark gives a rich amber shade; don’t bother with the cheap Catappa T bags not much tint and a bit of a dirty colour to the.water, Larger botanicals like monkey pots work well but can look out of scale in a small tanks, but can be hid behind hardscape

Easiest and cheapest way to tint is alder cones, IMO the best coloured tint came from mahogany rolls/bark

eBay , lots of sellers for black worm n bloodworm and some LFS might stock live food Brine shrimp won’t work, due to its salinity requirements

+1 for alder cones as tint bombs Catappa and Mahogany bark work well

Have you considered adding live food cultures to start food webs, I always add bloodworms, black worms, they will give foraging for your fish as they hide amongst the the leaves and botanicals I add some snails also MTS and bladder snails I’ve added daphnia cultures , but tend not to survive...

No amano BBS is my preferred food, hikari first bites is good as it stays on the surface I also make a mix of vibrabites, colour enhancing flake and bug bites , then crush them to a finer powder Temp 23/24c HTH

Had endlers in with mine, only after removing did fry pop up I’d say most corys would attempt to try their luck with small fry, even their own

I will start lowering the TDS further in the chilli tank, now my water butt is starting to fill😂

Haven’t lowered TDS in the Cory tank or the shrimp tank, I put the baby corys in the shrimp tank, I think they all like mess and rabbit snail poo!!

Try not feeding for a day or 2, then give them live food, like black worm, bbs, frozen bloodworms for a few days, combined with a cold water change, that does the trick for my orange vens. But a lot of corys have different triggers, some are seasonal for example

They have coloured up and grown faster since I moved them from their parents tank and into the blue dream tank

Very young fry in their camouflage colouring And an older brother that colouring up nicely

I also think they might be maculatus fry, by their colouring, we shall see!

Still getting fry in main tank, I collected last batch of eggs and set up a hatching box within the tank, so now have some new wrigglers 😀

Spotted some more fry today There’s lots of mulm,moss and botanicals now at bottom of tank, breaking down TDS still below 100

Add more rasbora s , they feel safer in larger groups, I have a mix of chillis, neon blues and maculatus and they are always at the front of the tank, displaying and interacting with each other Floating plants will help as well give them some cover HTH

Had another surprise in the fish outhouse,Venezuelan orange Cory fry

After a trim, a bit more open, more swimming space for the rasbora fry still knocking about, Tend to stay at bottom of tank Buce trimmings

Little update, TDS now below 100 Have a buce trimming session and adding some botanicals along the front of tank

Any updates on this project , have they coloured up yet

Could be ill, but looks like a low grade shrimp(cull) to me

It’s a dennerle 35litre scapers tank

I got them locally a while ago, had to worm them, lost a couple in quarantine Horizon aquatics have them regularly and they ship nano fish I believe would like to get more

I intend to do more rainwater w/c to continue to lower TDS and ph I will also start to add more botanicals I also stopped gravel vaccing and have left the mulm build up, unsightly yes but a home to lots of microfauna

Some of the other tank mates, neon blue rasbora and B maculatus

My normal tap water is around 150 TDS, ph 7/7-2 “moderately hard” But I’ve been doing w/c‘s with a mix of tap water and rainwater to lower TDS which is now 125
