Is this a fungus? Advice needed!

Thanks guys. I am going to move her to a separate tank. I'm just in the last stages of cycling so should be good to go by the weekend! I have had a very good look around the area she covers and I cant see any eggs (that's not to say there isnt any there). She is normally this colour most of the...

Hi everyone, little issue with my female A.Cacatuoides.. she has what appears to be a whit mark on her lip and onther on her front left fin. She has been showing some weird signs lately but nothing alarming. She has started spending all her time in the far back corner of my tank. She heavily...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Hi tim. Thanks for your reply. I will take a look over the trimming guide now. I personally wanted a more denser look. More bushy and less leggy. I was thinking of growing them out and trimming them and using the off cuts to replant to increase the overall bushy look rather than having to buy a...

    Help with Plant trimming.

Hi all, I've put a few questions on my journal (attempt no.2 - aquascaping) but it doesn't seem to be getting many responses. I put a question about mixing ferts and whether it would be stable. I did recieve one answer but he didnt fully explain. Well he did but the guy who commented needed...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

The colombo doesn't contain iron. So to buy a bottle of fertiliser is 9.99. A bottle of iron is 9.99 and a bottle of liquid carbon is 9.99. Seachem do a trio for 13.99. I use the liquid carbon in a low tech tank. I have a lot of of alternanthera rosaefolia that's has really slowed down and Some...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Quick question to any fertiliser experts on here... I'm currently using Colombo flora grow plant fertiliser along with injected co2 at 3-4bps. I'm looking to change to seachem as they do a 3 bottle kit in my lfs for pretty much the same price as the fertiliser. My questions are...is there any...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Hi guys, just added 4 more plants and re-arranged the alternanthera, hygrophila rosae and a couple of bunches of crypt to make it more dense. The plants are a pogostemon erectus, pogostemon helferi, cryptocoryne nevelii and a lagenandra meeboldii red.

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Wow. That's dense! Dont know if I want mine that dense haha but thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to plant the new plants today and move a few around as I'm not happy with the placement and there planted about an inch apart. I'll move them closer. Give me more room for planting. Thanks for...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Hi guys. This may sound silly but Is there a limit to how dense you can plant plants?? Like how big should the gap be between stem plants or can I plant them in bunches? I know there grown in bunches in the pots but I though this would only damage them over time due to restricted growth space

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Just picked up 4 more plants and a new timer plug so I can set the lights on that tank separately rather than 4 tanks on an extion lead plugged into 1 timer. Just grabbed a large echinodorus ozelot green, a nomaphila strica fleur, a hygrophila guanensis and a bunch of vallisneria spiralis

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Also got this brown stuff forming on most of the plants in direct flow of the filter. It's also on the diffuser and the co2 tubing. It rubs off very easy and it doesn't seem like algae. There are traces of hair algae on 1 or 2 plants but it's not got any worse or spread over the last 2 weeks...

Sorry for the delay. Hers some pics of my lobelia's, crypt, alternanthera and the hygro lancea.. one of the lobelia cardinalis dwarf has decided it didnt like where it was planted and has gone on a little trip! Haha. Thought I'd take a picture as it better shows the parts I mean. All of them...

I used organic topsoil as a base so hopefully that leech any ammonia and I topped it with jbl pro scape soil. Should of kept the bag...:banghead: will deffo reduce the light duration. With regards to the water changes should I use de-chlorinater or will just tap water be safe as there is no...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Hi siege, thanks for the suggestions. I'll put the tank on a separate timer for 6 hours. You are correct in your assumptions I unfortunately do not have a solenoid. It's just a basic fluval 95g disposable. Yes I do have a drop checker and it is lime green when the lights turns on. I turn it off...

Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read through my journal. Tomorrow will be the end of the 2nd week after planting. A few of my plants are showing signs of deficiencys and/or dying. This is where my knowledge is limited! How to I go about trimming my plants? I've read that you cant...

    Attempt no.2 - aquascaping

Hello everyone, finally decided to crack on with my 2nd aquascape. Was a bit reluctant after my 1st catastrophe haha. 60ltr tank lasted about 3 months before everything died! Bit of an unusual size tank to scape but it's the only one I had not in use . Its a Juwel Rio 180 I believe...

    Help understanding TDS pen readings

Thanks everyone for all your help and replies. Its Certainly made things easier and a lot clearer for me. I have tendencies to over think certain things haha and this is one of many! Hopefully that's the last of my confusions for now, but, I know where I'll be heading the next time I am!

    Help understanding TDS pen readings

this is what my local water company states. If I'm right that's 286.5ppm?? Which is what it is out the tap if I let it run for a minute before i fill up the bucket. So the pen works!..My only question now is why the pen gave me a different reading 20 mins after testing it the 1st time.

    Help understanding TDS pen readings

I should add that if I add de-chlorinater straight to the bucket with water out of the tap it gives a reading of 300-330ppm depending on the tds of the tap water as that also varies. Although I've never added treatment and waited 12hrs to see if the tds changes again.I think, if I work it out...

    Help understanding TDS pen readings

Hello everyone. Sorry it's taken a while I've had a hectic week! Finally bought some di water and some new batteries just incase. Tested the water with the pen and it read 2ppm. I changed the batteries anyway and still got a reading of 2ppm at 22°c. That potentially rules out the pen being at...

Thanks everyone for all the replies and suggestions. I will get onto them over the weekend. Tam - the pen is only a few weeks old? Maybe it's a faulty pen? Dw1305 - next time I'm at the super6ill get some di water or I might just pop into the fish store and ask them to check against there...

    Help understanding TDS pen readings

Hi all. Got a little issue I'm struggling to get my head around. Every time I use a tds pen on my aquarium I get different reading(like 20 mins apart). Basically I let my tank slip whilst I was working 7 days a week and the tds when i checked was 867ppm. My tap water is anywhere between 250 and...
