Just a quick remark. Your recipes will not add up, as you are adding salts with a water component. You should go ahead, start with 80% of the total water, add all salts and fill up to the 100% mark.

I have one of the self watering tupes by roellke orchids in germany. Works like a charm and leaks only minimally (10ml a day) when not fully grown in with mosses. I placed mine in a do!aqua wabi kusa glass and maintain ~80% humidity without a cover.

If leaves decay you have more organic matter in the tank which the bacterias have to keep up with than if you would just remove the "dead" leaves.

The iron in most fertilizers is chelated and unharmful for invertables. Even soft chelated fertilizers such as the Aqua Rebell Micro Flowgrow is unharmful. Many hobbyists are dosing iron and micros in tanks were several hundred $$ worth of shrimps are living - no issues.

Yes, but in a healthy tank there is no surface scum, because it can get removed by bacteria before it starts to appear.

There is no scum ;) I just use the skimmer to reach CO2 levels faster and have more stable O2.

If you use the steam. Otherwise the KH actually raises as just H2O boils off. Furthermore, if you heat up water you could have an issue concerning O2. The warmer the water, the less O2 is dissolvable. If you heat the water up tooo fast your fish could get a gas bubble disease.

To add another POV to this: I think BGA is more in competition with our "good" biofilm, but due to missing water movement below the Eleocharis there are O2 poor regions in which our "good" biofilm dies off. I would bet you have no BGA in the back of the tank on the soil / glass.

Its quite nice, although you really have fewer options for lights than with 60P or 90P. 120 liters is easy to handle, not to big but not to small.

In the german forum there is one guy running his aquarium without waterchanges since 1986. Just changed water once (or twice) due to a leaking tank. You can check it out here. His main focus is tracking nutrients (NPK, Fe, GH, KH, pH, CO2) weekly, refilling with RO water.

If you dont have any NO2 or NH4+ in your water, you can add shrimp and fish. I would not get Nerite(!) Snails. Either Planorbarius corneus or Clithon corona

The ones aquasabi sells are directly from Chihiros but for the german market with another power supply. Aquasabi doesnt change the power supply, thats on Chihiros.

Aquasabi is my go to for their stuff as they have the german version with better/higher quality power supplys.

Not in usual dosings. At pH 7 you can dose 1,3mg/L PO4 and 0,756mg/L Fe(III) without reactions. If you have chelated iron its even higher, as its not 100% available at all times.

Seen them in person (as well as the ADA ones). Chihiros comes pretty close but has some (minor) imperfections. Also the Chihiros pump isnt that powerful in direct comparison with a filled filter.

Antony, thats pretty similar to my preference. I go along the long side of the tank with the external filter flow and have an additional eheim Skim 350 with the variable output pipe (eheim 4004600) to the top to create some more surface agitation. The skimmer is only running while i supply CO2.

I'm using it and there are various cumbersome parts - like the time selection, which never locks right. But keep in mind, Chihiros is just a team of ~20-25 people, doing all the work from engineering to selling, to developing and accounting.

Dont use liquid carbo as a CO2 source, because its not. In facts its an algicide. Usually the "recommended dose" of a liquid carbos adds just 1,5mg/L CO2. Thats nonesense.

ADA has to release guaranteed analysis in terms of how much N-P-K and Traces it adds. Brighty K: 2,6% K2O - as it also raises KH we can assume they use only KHCO3. Neutral Brighty K: 5% K2O - as there is no N, P, KH added i'll assume its KSO4 Brighty Nitrogen: 0,4% N (total 0,4% Urea Nitrogen)...

I got a 60cm WRGB light hanging on top of a 80cm tank. You can see it over here. I think its fine, as leds have a high radiation angle.

Thats exactly how James Findley from TGM cycled most of his tanks. I dont see any reason not to do it. You might want to add some bottle of bacterias (Seachem stability, Microbelift NiteOut2) to get a headstart ;)

I'm currently using a lean water collumn dosing in conjunction with Soil and root tabs. For filtration i settled for something which can reduce NO3 and is widely accepted and cheap -> Pumice. Seachem Matrix and ADA Bio Rio are both 100% Pumice and so far i dont see any downsides of using 8-16mm...

Just like cutting every other foreground plant. What you need to get them all is a really fine net or a skimmer. I also use a wet towel to remove the leftovers on the glass.

Thats fine probably. It really depends how much CO2 can offgas while the lights are out. Main reasons for offgassing are surface agitation (skimming, Bubble glass) while a reason against it is skum on the surface.

Hello, cation exchange isn't suitable for in tank use due to the raising CO2 levels which have to gas off. You could go with some acids to remove the KH, but this requires exact knowledge of your KH and how much you would want to remove - and then again different reactions cause difference...

I had a Twinstar Mini M and a Chihiros Doctor - both in different setups and the only thing i noticed was a "fresher" smell of the water. Currently i'm back to the good old Söchtinger Oxydator to enrich my water with O2 at all times and thus keep the DOC low.

I have the Acorus tatarinowii since ~2 years. First year total submerged with 30ppm CO2 - no issues. Now in my pond it grows faster with just wet feets.
