Hey guys, I'm looking some advice on floating plants. Currently I have a salvinia sp. (i think) in my tanks. I've tried duckweed, but its a major PITA. I'm looking for something nice looking without super long roots. Is this just wishful thinking. Currently I have found: Azolla...

    Eheim Ehfisubstrat vs Ehfisubstrat Pro?

I think you got a bit mixed up. Substrat is the stone chips type effect and Pro are little balls. I prefer the balls as flow through is more even and there are less areas of clogging etc. Otherwise they are both very similar in surface area etc (from what I can gather) I have found them...

    Night shut-off for DIY CO2

I found that when running my DIY CO2 on my RIO 180 I could do so very safely without a shut off. My CO2 levels never got that high as to be a danger to the fish. I actually needed to change the mixture weekly just to keep up. The only time I potentially could have run into trouble was when I...

i use an eheim thermo filter on my RIO 180. A little expensive on initial outlay, but worth every penny. I have a 2324. edit. using this filter means you can remove the internal filter. However, a tetra tec 1200 and a hydor external heater would do the same trick.
