There is a box coming at the moment from Tom. The wood is charged at £5.30 per kg to cover shipping costs that Tom has incurred. Shipping outwards will be the same as last time £12 per shipment.
Everyone is looking for...
Hi thanks for that :). Wouldn't have a clue where to start with the coding and again it is released to each batch of members at different times so would only be able to choose what remains when it is released to you.
Cheers
Dave
Hi Prashant thanks for that. If we put it on Aquarist Classified this would then open it up to everyone and not just those on the forum :(. Also needs to be released in batches and with notice as well as some people have been waiting longer than others etc so only fair they have first bash at...

Thanks for all the comments:).
All the pipes are lagged with thinsulate and buried about 12inches and lagged when outside. All the tanks have lids so no loss from condensation and the outhouse has background heating to 20 deg.
Have some lagging ready for winter as well tried to get most...
Hi all after being on the forum for ages thought it was time to start a Journal lol.
Tank is 8ft x 2ft x 2ft with a 7.5ft horizontal weir.
4 x 54W T5 lighting (2 x Grolux and 2 x Narva). If needed this can be increased to accomodate in pairs another two pairs of lamps.
Circulation is through...
Hi all thanks for the info will be using an Aquamas external reactor from Germany so probably not much pressure but have found a local company who can supply the tubing at 27p per metre :jawdrop .
:D Just finishing the pipework at the moment got one more run to finish but want to do it right first time hopefully:).
Have the tank wet now for the first time today so getting there  .
Thanks for that Tom the filter is a modular sump system which is in another room with very little surface movement to prevent gas off and the return is done with two return pumps which between them will provide around 12,000lph. Is there a better system for a tank of this size with regards to...
Hi all need some advice on setting up CO2. Been looking at getting an Aqua Medic 1000 CO2 reactor and placing the feed pump in the sump and feeding this into the return feeds and then into the main tank.
Any ideas is this would be okay?.
Also is one drop checker the same as any other...

Hi all sorted thanks guys. Just waiting for the tubes to come from Lamp Specs now to test them going to be a week for some 965 lamps:(.
Cheers everyone.
Hi all have just started to wire up some Osram Quicktronic FQ T5 Ballasts both are designed to take 2 x 54W T5 tubes.
There are 6 outputs on them. Output 1&2 and 5&6 all say maximum cable length 1m. Outputs 3&4 have maximum cable length of 2m.
Anyone know which outputs I should be using to...
Hi James just looking at using EC as have 4 bags at work sitting doing nothing that I can have :D . As the tank is 8 x 2 x 2 need to try to keep costs down where possible would it work if I used Akadama as a bulking with the EC or better to sandwich it as it were between two layers of Akadama...
At long last the tank arrived on Thursday and is to say the least excellent. Very thorough build and even used sump design I wanted to minimise gas off:). Will post some pics soon just got to finish off the pipework to the remote sump.
Excellent timing just had new tank delivered this week:D.
These bits please don't think i've reserved any that have been done already hopefully.

Sounds good Ed the filter will be in a different location but will be used as a sump filter still being fed by weirs. The filter is non fluidised and will be fed under gravity with a pump back. The jap matting we use in a different configuration so that the dirt still gets caught but the water...
Thats why i'm on here first before I do anything and avoid making mistakes. Used to algae control in my marine tanks and in tropical tanks I used to have its good fun lol.
If its going to be too difficult and not worth the effort then will just have it as a bog standard tank with very minimal...
Morning everyone.
Quick question time in my new setup going to have a total water volume in the system of 1200 litres. Using the EI method this means that I will be changing 600 litres per week on the weekly change. Is there another method of dosing that would be more suited to a large tank...
Hi guys can add me as well please if not too late. Looking for a very large piece if possible as centre piece for 8x 2 x 2. either that or two to three nice size pieces. Can also help with sending onwards through couriers we use if that helps any size up to 25kg £9.
Cheers
Dave
Hi Ed. The filter will be one of the Kockney Koi units as we have a few damaged ones lying around I can fix up which saves quite a bit. The problem with them is that they have internal baffles arranged which force the water through each chamber and its keeping the pump fed that would be a...
The tank was originally going to be used as a reef tank but had enough of marines and the tank is on order already. Surely the addage that a bigger tank is easier to set parameters etc. still holds true?. Have a 10 x 2 x 2 in the shop where I work :D.
Cheers
Hi Ed yeah they are fantastic only problem I have is the flow as the maximum the 5000 unit will sope with is around the 6000lph :(. The boss indoors says 10000 filter is too big can't see the problem with it personally only seen foot long.
Thanks
Dave
Excellent want to make sure I get right from the start rather than blunder along as I go :D . The vortex has now been thrown out the window and a bigger unit without a vortex will now be used so should avoid CO2 loss through that.
Had a hunch that the dawn/dusk scenario might help with CO2...
Thats what I was thinking have a range of pumps I can use so was thinking of using a 12,000 litre per hour pump which will have around the 9,000 lph mark when head etc taken into account. Also thinking of having several entry points from the sump possibly at different levels?.
The sump is a...
Hi thanks for the advice so far halide not an option unfortunately due to the heat had 2 x 150W on a 5ft marine tank and heat and noise etc was way too much can mount ballasts etc remotely so not a problem with heat or noise from them just from the tubes themselves.
Thanks
Dave
Hi planning a 8ft x 2ft x 2ft tank planted. T5 lighting will be used and a dimmable ballast system for a natural dawn to dusk cycle.
This tank was originally going to be a reef tank but the cost of replacing 24 T5 tubes every 6 months put that out the window so said the boss lady lol...
