Where to buy in the South West.

I believe there are not many good plant retailers in Plymouth, take a look at emperor tropicals or Endsleigh, both I haven't been to in a long time so can't comment on what they keep. Your best bet really is to travel, I catch the train from Falmouth to Penryn (the station is just down the road...

    saintlys sumatradriftwood scape

sp. aromatica should have a distinct sweet smell to it, sp. stellata will not. This will be the key way to tell the difference between the two.

    saintlys sumatradriftwood scape

I agree with ceg, it is definitely Pogostemon stelleta. I have aromatica and stellata in my latest scape, take a look at my journal, the stellata is at the rear and the aromataca in front. S

    What Diffuser

I too have a rhinox 5000, you have to keep them really clean (every week bleach it!) or they don't work very well. I had a daz beetle diffuser before (which being glass I smashed) which I really really rated, very fine diffusion.

Well after a pretty hectic time, (my wife gave birth) and with the new arrival my tank unfortunatly took a bit of a back seat. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to re-scape. This is how my tank was looking before the overhaul And this is where I'm up to now. So over the next few weeks I'm...

    New Tropica plants!

Well I'm back from Nuremberg and was very impressed with Tropica's stand (as always) I was particularly interested to see there new plants and really loved 'staurogyne' a compact foreground plant ideal for nano's. The other two were myriophyllum mezianum and nesaea pedicellata. I can see these...

    Si's 90cm bow

Ok next weeks update, I have got the rotalas growing well, I guess I'll let them grow until tuesday, cut back and then shape in a couple of weeks, I'm thinking a U shape on the back. planted didiplis infront of the stems to break it up a bit. Will also be removing the lotus lily in favour of...

    Si's 90cm bow

indeed AE mini landscape rocks. in the pics they do look a bit large but in the flesh work well. Once the didiplis grows out and I get the blyxa should hide alot of them anyway. I really need to get a good camera for the final shoot before it gets ripped out....

    Thread Algae

I don't know If I would be inclined to ditch those test kits, even if variably inaccurate they do give an indication of water quality. For example, the glass permanent co2 tests are probably the most inaccurate of them all yet we all have them as an indication in our tanks! If you were after...

    Suitable Pleco

My true siamensis was the best at algae eating that I have found. My tank is now completely shot of all types! Red Bee shrimps IMO are real lookers but rubbish at algae eating! although my amano shrimp are good.

    Si's 90cm bow

I have pruned it once already and it's due again. Stuff grows like crazy! I hope I haven't pruned the rotalas too much, they look a bit thin than what they did! Hopefully should sprout up in a few days time again.

    Si's 90cm bow

Ok after much deliberation I have decided to change my rock layout, the rotundifolias needed a good cut back too as they had reached the surface. The microsorum plants were not doing overly too well either, which is strange. They must not like the high light. So out they went. along with some...
