    Help lighting my Aquanano 40

Dose this light grow plants OK? I have a 30L tank that's basically the same as the aquanano only it came with an 18 watt PL which I think is a bit much WPG going low tech. I was thinking about an LED but it seems I can find nothing but conflicting information for lighting Nano tanks. I'm...

Reviving the 30 Litre Low Tech Tank

I don't seem to be getting notifications alerts on here? Be good to see some updated pics of the tank, see how the tank has matured and changed now. I've been thinking about what substrates to use in preparation of my nano, I'll probably go with some sort of clay based stuff in black. Going to...

Reviving the 30 Litre Low Tech Tank

Hows the tank doing now? I've got a tank the same size and measurements 30L that I'm hoping to get set up soon low tech. It will be my first real planted aquarium even though I've been idling on this site for years now checking out all the amazing aquascapes and hopefully learning in...

    60cm play tank

Nice job George, I prefer low tech tanks just because there's less equipment in the tank & theres also alot less maintenance if you have alot of tanks on the go. If a tank can look that good without co2 injection & abit more patients the rewards are greater.

    tpn+

I had the same issue myself of wondering which version would be best for my as yet to setup low tek. I looked at my water report & my water has 35ppm of nitrate out of the tap so i decided against buying the + version in the end. The non + version of tropica still has one macro in it potassium...

Saw a post of a finished nano tank on APC forums from someone who set up this site & he linked Ukaps from there explaining in the post abit about this site. I followed the link here & signed up. It's the best site that I have found for straight up advice & infomation. It's also based in the uk...

    ADA Solar 1

I can't deny the quality of ADA products & they look so dam sleek & sexy. But they are well overpriced, but like you say most things are overpriced for what they are. I just find that ADA are even more so for alot of there products. It is a real nice looking quality lighting unit by ADA you...

What is this substrate and where to buy it?

You could give it a go then I guess.

What is this substrate and where to buy it?

It would probably cause sudden ph swings. Could stress fish out alot if you have softening & hardening happening at the same time. It would probably be hard to find a consistent balance.

    Lighting for 30*30*20cm nano aquarium

To be honest, after seeing how much money the wave lighting unit is as a stand alone unit it's not worth the expense. I got the lighting unit with a tank & a filter for £55 including postage off ebay. £30 plus postage costs seems very steep for a mostly plastic light with metallic silver...

What is this substrate and where to buy it?

I swear I never stole your link it was purely by chance, I re-edited my post & came across the same product as you from aquaessentials. I agree that play sand is far better value for money.

What is this substrate and where to buy it?

The sand in the video may not be as white as it appears under the light on a very low resolution video. Most of the whitest sand you can get is aragonite based sand used in marine aquariums. This sand is far from inert & would effect the water chemistry in your tank making it very unsuitable in...

What is this substrate and where to buy it?

It's a sand a substrate. If you like the look of sand you can get some childrens play sand from any of the big diy stores really cheap which would be fine in an aquarium given a good rinse first. Try b&q or argos.

    FOF Iwagumi Challenge - POLL

What substrate is that? I like option 1 myself as I really like some of the Iwagumi tanks ive seen which have a slight hill or mound effect in the substrate. Like this scape called Pinheiro Manso it's amazing. http://www.aquascapingworld.com/forum/a ... manso.html

    New lighting for my cube

LED lights produce much less heat than normal fluorescent lamps can, so if you use it conjunction with your existing 11 watt lamp you might find your not producing much more heat overall. I have an LED light bulb in my room & even if it's been on for hours it's bearly warm to touch. You may find...

    Lighting for 30*30*20cm nano aquarium

I have the wave solaris 18w which came with the 30cm wave cubo tank & it's the perfect size for the tank. It's about 27cm long & 5.5cm wide. I don't think it would be over kill if you use co2.

    Which tropica plant nutrition version?

I should think the standard version would suffice  I'll give it a bash then. Thanks for the responses.

    Which tropica plant nutrition version?

I'll be using the light that came with the tank which is a wave solaris 18watt tropical lamp. The tank is only 30 liters. I was going for a low tech setup but also using excel for awhile after using an emersed start just to get the growth of a hairgrass lawn in the range a want it in. I read...

    Which tropica plant nutrition version?

To + or not to +? I'll be setting up a 30 liter cube planted tank at some point soon? I was going to go for plant nutrition + version initially as an all in one solution for a low tech setup. I have very high nitrates in my tapwater which is a ground water source. I was getting readings of...

Aqua El NeoHeater anyone have one of these?

Just found one 50watt easy version for £12.99 online almost everywhere else online has them at a higher price point than the neo's which is odd.

Aqua El NeoHeater anyone have one of these?

I think the neo version is fully micro processor controlled with a built in digital thermometer & lots of flashing led lights. It's now a few pound cheaper than the easy version so i'm thinking of maybe getting one. How long have you had yours now? Thanks.

A cheaper liquid source of carbon by AE Design Aqua Carbon

I read on another forum that they stabilize seachem's version with heat. Apparently it makes it less toxic and longer lasting, some people on APC forum buy glutaraldehyde from hospital supply shops in the us which has to be kept refrigerated to keep it stable. They implied that keeping it at...

I definitely need a heater my bedroom gets very gold in the winter, it's colder than any other room in the house? i'm planning to keep a betta fish in this tank so the temps will need to be on the warm side about 26c. I looked at the Neowattino plus heaters because they had the thermostat...

Aqua El NeoHeater anyone have one of these?

Hi everyone, new to the forum & in the process of setting up a nano planted aquarium which is a 30 liter cube.
