    HOB filter modificiation?

Does any body know if cutting some of the teeth of the impeller in my HOB filter will increase the flow of the filter? I read something about this on a american pico reef forum ages ago, and was just wondering what people thought about this? Thanks

Has anyone had any experience with these lights?

Was just wondering if anyone had used or knows much about these lights.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Waterhome-3-9w-Fl ... 35a9c3e1c1 As far as i can tell they are replacement lights for specific tanks, but, I just managed to get one new for £2.50 so I reckon I could do a DIY job and get it to work...

Thanks for taking the time to do the pictures, very helpful! I think the diffuser would be too big, but I'll go look in my LFS to see what they have. Thanks again David

DIY CO2 for a 5 litre Pico.. Is it worth it?

As you can guess from the title, im trying to decide if it would be worth me setting up a DIY co2 system for my 5 litre pico (I'll be doing a journal soon before you start asking!)? I would like to go down the yeast and sugar method, as my budget for this is £15. OR.... Shall I just use some...

    Any geologists among us?

I could call myself a geologist, i've got a A level in it! I'd look out for any rocks with veins in them, as a white vein which looks like quartz could be calcite, which could have negative effects on water chemistry. Also, I'd stay away from any sandstones, or other fine grained soft...

60cm - Liberty Island (Cenotes biotope)

This tank looks great George, very well done :) Just wondering if you had any tips for growing riccia in my 10ltr tank... Its been in there for nearly a month and I can see some growth but it is fairly limited. I've attached it to mesh with cotton and I currently dose with 5ml of Tetra Plantamin...

    Bigmatt's 27l Shrimp nano "Obelisk"

I think it looks good, well done. The big rock at the back right, what is it? I dont think the straight lines of the rock suit the bendy wood, but thats just my opinion. Apart from that I think it looks very good :)
