    Fingers crossed, 40l Journal

Who knew hitting rocks with a hammer listening to Mastodon, and narrowly avoiding being blinded with stone shrapnel could be so fun? Now there’s two interesting fragments where there was before only one (and a possible name for the tank, but it’s far too early to be contemplating that, as it...

    Fingers crossed, 40l Journal

Thanks Dan, sound advice, I'll have a look at the stones I have left over and try to fix the layout. I do wonder if its the height of that front/middle rock, or the blankness of the right hand side of that stone. I'd quite like to see it with moss down the face of it, to try to tie it back. As...

[IWAGUMI] Project Scree - New plants and lights

Re: [IWAGUMI] Project Scree I really like the fish/rock combination.. the subtle oranges in the veins of the rock that show up in those latest couple of photos make the tetras appear so vibrant but in keeping. That's great...

    Fingers crossed, 40l Journal

Quick update, planted some parva and tenellus as they had waited in a plastic tub long enough to look a bit funky. Hopefully the plants will start to make a come back now that they're in the tank. Not too happy with the right side at the moment, and maybe the biggest rock is at too shallow of...

    Fingers crossed, 40l Journal

Thanks for your advice Sanj. I do quite like the combo too, and think I like the contrast between the delicate wood and the big rocks. I’ve twigged that rather than branching out for much larger pieces of wood (sorry... :? ), I’m going to stay vigilant for more twisty bits. Substate piled...

Ha ha not quite as nice or coveted, but thanks for the link and your opinion Victor. The rock actually came from Ventnor, Isle of Wight. It looks as if the wood’s days are numbered…

    Fingers crossed, 40l Journal

Nice one Tom, thanks for the advice. I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for some better sticks, especially for the longest one on the left hand side, but haven’t come across anything great yet. I’ll use your idea of counterbalancing the anubias with a couple of plants beside the left-leaning...

    Fingers crossed, 40l Journal

After struggling with a pair of mainly stem filled tanks this year and fighting every form of algae imaginable, I’ve decided to try something completely different. The aim is to have a relatively low maintenance tank, which won’t fall apart if I’m away from the tank for a few weeks. How...

    Temple- 3l pico

fair enough... when I read moss I instantly started thinking of a moss wall creeping over the rock fragment like a little glimpse of a lost temple. have you had any luck finding other rocks to match?

    22 Gallon Upgrade, First Journal!

Your tank looks clean from the photos you've posted, and if you're certain its not a low co2 issue, it may be due to poor water circulation. Make sure your filter and pipes are clean, and if necessary add a powerhead. If it is flow, it may also be that your glass intake really restricts flow...

juwel rekord 600 aquarium (day 8)

the additional gravel is a good addition, although i'd prefer a little less gravel on the left hand side and front left corner personally, as it looks like its the bottom of a slight slope. definitely getting better and better jon

    Iwagumi Layout

I don't actually know anything about Iwagumi layouts, but seems like the smaller rocks on the right dont have a great relationship to the big one lying down, whereas the upright and little triangle in the left are successful. Have you got a photo of the changes you already made?
