Hi All,
I have just bought and set up an Eheim 2080 to allow it to mature before I re-do and re-scape my tank.
I meticulously went through the instructions when setting it up but there is a bit more noise coming from the filter itself than I expected. There is still lots of small air bubbles...
Re: Time for a new scape
Hi,
Was just wondering what lighting you have got on that tank? Its a Jewel Rio 180 right?
Also, what was this planting advice you received for the hairgrass?
Thanks!
I wouldn't say I'm an expert either but it stands to reason that the flow would distribute better with an intake at either end and a spray bar in the middle than one intake. I believe Ceg has doubled up the length of his spray bars to distribute flow better.
Just had a thought tho. You could use...
True. It does have a faster pump output. However, the 2080 has two intake pipes so MIGHT allow it to get closer to the stated flow rate than the 2078 with just one. Also, having two intakes you will get better flow dynamics.
From what I have researched of the eheims it will be pretty pointless getting the 2078 which is a 3e because you are paying for tech that you don't really need.
The 2078 Pro 3e is £239 and the 2080 Pro 3 is 249 both without media. Charterhouse Aquatics online do a deal with the media for the...
Thanks for the quick reply.
Cool. That answers both of my questions.
The reason I asked about the heater was because it was rated to a range of tank volumes. I understand what the thermostat does. I just wanted to check!
As far as the diffuser / valve goes. That clears up any worries I had...
Heater
I am looking at the hydor inline heater...Obviously! But to get a tube diameter of 16mm that wont slow the flow I will need to get the 300w model. From the info for the two sizes it kind of suggests that this will be too powerful with my 180L tank.
Here is the info...
Ceg, any problems with back flow of water towards the CO2 cylinder when the CO2 is off during the night when using the cal aqua inline diffuser? I know you can put a valve in but this would be effective enough when having 1200 or so liters of water passing through per hr?
Thanks ceg4048!
Cool. I think I will use those for the time being and sort out some nice looking pipes when the filter has matured (used along side the current Jewel Internal) and I can do my re-scape.
I've heard lots of amounts of time to allow a filter to mature. But what do people recommend...
Hi All,
I am currently shopping around to get a 2080 but can't seem to find out whether or not it comes with the inlet pipes, spray bar, tubes etc as standard that I will need to set it up.
If not. What will I need to add to the list.
Also, if anyone thinks it will be a massive waste of money...
