Hi Deansie, are you sure it isn't due to the lack of flow to certain areas. With it being deeper it possibly has flow restrictions to lower levels? If some plants are ok I'd guess it's more to do with flow/nutrients/Co2 etc?

Why should it run 24/7? As LG said basically to give the fish a break and the powerhead is hopefully going to be the main flow for distributing co2 around th tank. Hi GillesF, I've not used these mate so i can't tell you how they perform, but they do seem very short for a pair curved. I'd imagine they'd be ideal for smaller tanks but anything with any depth mate and you may struggle a bit.

Dawid, have a look at the top of the substrate page mate. There is a thread by Matt - Calculating the amount of substrate needed, it'l giv you a guide on there. I think around 20ltr should be ok
