    Hydor Ario as diffusor?

I just won a hydor ario 1 on ebay for 99p - £3.50 with postage! :D I was thinking of using it as a c02 diffusor... it won't pull air down to the bottom of my tank, but connected to co2 it should whisk up some tiny bubbles... will it be OK?

It sounds like you're on the right track... george is right, you generally get a more striking look by not mixing different types of wood and rocks together - the effect can be jarring. That said, a well placed piece of wood or rock can add contrast and tension - not that i'm an expert!! :D

It's crypt wendtii brown and becketii brown as you get further right. I think one of the issues is that i planted up for the hardscape without considering how big some of the plants would get... and so the balance is off... and, since i removed the slate the wendtii brown is too far forward...

High water turnover - discuss :)

ther There's a couple of other points though... What of asthetics? Crystal clear water in a display tank is attractive - larger / more filters aide in this. Also, taking more particulate matter out of suspension surely helps light penetration in the tank, too.
