Here's an update. 4 White Cloud Mountain Minnows added. Plant growth very good. No algae. Everything is growing in nicely.

thanks for the comment. The plant is indeed hydrocotyle tripartita or sometimes referred to as hydrocotyle sp.japan. I will keep the crypts in mind but I will see how things pan out in the upcoming weeks before I decide.

Costant trimming and high lighting (just my opinion) works for me

I think eleocharis sp mini only comes in tropica 1-2-3 grow if im not mistaken

moss hasn't been trimmed yet, will trim it when it gets longer so i can re use it. shrimps were 4 for £14, but being a known customer to them, they done 5 for £15.

I dose everyday to be honest except sunday along with easycarbo daily. No longer injecting co2 and plants in my aquarium (eleocharis sp mini and staurogyne repens) are doing well. No outburst of algae, just some small spots on the glass.

I'm coming down with my cousin on saturday. hopefully once he see everything the show has to offer, he'll be tempted. :roll:

check valve is essential as it allows the gas to flow in one direction. Regarding the drop checker, i have never owned or used one before, but have always had stunning results without it. It just indicates the amount of co2 in your aquarium.

a glass diffuser would be a much better choice than the ladder as the bubbles are much smaller, allowing it to dissolve better. How long has the tank been running for?

hi welcome to the forum. With that amount of lighting over that capacity, you're going to have to introduce some form of additional carbon dioxide (diy or pressurised), otherwise your more likely to see an outburst of algae as they tend to thrive in conditions where the balance isn't yet correct.

I find they breed quite often as well. If you have moss or ricca tied to a slate, you would find eggs in it weekly; just shake it in a container. :D

Compared to the other Eleocharis species, i was just wondering what would happen if you didn't decide to trim it as it is a relatively short plant. As we know, trimming promotes growth. Will i see a stutter in growth?

i just guest, as long as you clean it out thoroughly it should be fine.

i dose any fertilisers an hour before lights come on.

i use bleach and it works wonder. Get small cup and mix bleach and water. Leave the diffuser in their for a day/half a day. You then want to get rid of the bleach by leaving it in a soultion of dechlorinator and water (neutralises the bleach). Get a syringe with a bit of tubing on it to clean...

dont think there is a conflict between the two plants as they have been in the same tank for months now. Filter is an eheim 2213, used in a 25l p@h cube, so flow is plentiful. anyway, got a new co2 cylinder on now, will let you know in a week time how they are doing.

nothing has been altered. same routine everyday which has been fine up until this week. Can't complain about growth, algae, etc.

if you look at the picture you can see there is some kind of deficiency from the staurogyne repens near the riccia.

get a new cylinder tomorrow from machinemart. fluctuating in term of starting at 5.5 bar then dropping to 5, then back to 5.5, etc. you get the picture. the cylinder has been running for two months now so i guess it is time for a refill.

Why not dose EI. If you do go down this road, you wont have to dish out on expensive substrates.
