    Dan's low-light/maintenance 300

I managed to find my camera and after trying all the settings and a bit of fiddling in photoshop came up with a half decent (for me) picture. Excuse the air bubble's all over the glass

    Dan's low-light/maintenance 300

well I got carried away doing the water change on my other tank and ripped out the crypts and started planting this one  here's how it looks now (again awful photo): There's Balansae at the back with Undulatus green and brown, Moelmahni & Bullosa in front of it ,Wendtii green and...

    Dan's low-light/maintenance 300

Well.... I've had this tank in the garage for ages after I bought it off Mark (Saintly) and have only just got round to (start) setting it up for various reasons. It's a Rena Aqualife 300, dimensions are l:120cm x d:40cm x h:70cm  I've decided to go low tech on it due to the hassle of...

120cm - The Crypt Eternal (preview)

What lighting rig did you use on this set up? You said 1 watt per gallon but was that the 4 t8s that rena provide in the set or did you go for t5s? I've got a rena 300 waiting to be set up this summer and am sorely tempted to go the low light/no CO2 /low maintenance route. I missed the pfk issue...

    white spot

With the fish you've listed I presume there's no snails or shrimp in there - if you do have some that you want to keep though (or want to in the future) use a non-copper based med! (I think I used the interpet antiwhite spot and it worked a treat) Other than that nothing special required: when...

how to prepare for power cut?

I've had a leaflet through the door advising that the power will be going off from around 09:00 through till 15:30 tomorrow while they do some repairs. What should I do in preparation for this to minimise problems? Should I turn things off before I leave for work (external filter, lights, co2...

    help crypts in trouble

The holes/affected patches look a little too uniformly round to me - I'd guess somethings been making a snack of them.

I thought you were doing that for the MA @ East Bridgford? or have you got yourself another commision!? I do like to keep an eye on both shops though so I'll no doubt get a chance to watch it develop :D

    Plant friendly plecs.

Hi, just a heads up that there's a tank full of really nice Bulldog Plecs (LDA 25 - Parotocinclus Jumbo) at Maidenhead Aquatics West Bridgeford, Nottingham. I've not seen them very often locally so thought others might be interested. They're a nice adition to a planted tank!

saintly's "The Miracle Mire" scape over

Re: saintly's "The Miracle Mire" Just thought I'd pass comment as I was fortunate enough to see this scape in the flesh today (when I met mark to relieve him of his Rena 300! - I promise to put together a journal and scape worthy of its heritage but that wont be started for a few months yet)...

    Hello and request for advice

there're 10 harlequins 6 pentazona barbs 6 rummynoses 6 corys 2 angels 2 ottos 4 amano shrimp (plus a good number of pest snails - physa marmorata) From a biological filtration point of view I don't think there's a problem, the 2224 is providing enough I'm sure - it's purely from a flow point...

    Hello and request for advice

Hi, I've been registered a while and just soaking up advice but thought it time to get involved. I set up my first planted tank (my first aquarium of any sort in fact) at the beginning of august and its been running nicely. Minimal algae and good plant growth. It is heavily (over) stocked with...
