Hiya all, I have a 350l aquarium, What I've noticed is when i do a weekly 100L water change using 50% RO 50% Tap water my Plants pearl like crazy :D however when i use the EI powders all through the week, although i get some pearling it's nowhere near the levels of when i carry out a water...

I know from time to time I think of taking my aquarium down, but I know within a week I'll be itching to put it back up. I've only had the one problem since I've been keeping fish and that also was a faulty heater, so now I just don't use one, problem solved!

My issue with the heaters was more the malfunction leading to over heating and killing my fish more than not bringing the aquarium up to temperature, but the two heater approach for a more even temperature sounds interesting... Awesome Vision 450 you have there by the way :thumbup:

Good call Mark, i tried the heater-free approach last night and the temperature of the tank stayed almost the same all through the night,however as my house feels more like a freezer in the colder periods of the year, I'm going to keep a hold of my heaters.

I Couldn't agree more, I really don't understand how or why anyone could put any fish or live stock in danger for the sake of cycling their aquarium? It's not as if this is the only way do get the job done. For me it completely goes against the idea of looking after, enjoying and keeping fish...

I've got a 350l, I'm using the Juwel heater that came with it and it really does struggle to keep the temp up. I put it on 30c and it gets to a max of 25c so I suppose it works lol

Good idears, but what I was actually hinting at was do you wait before your equipment packs-up or something goes wrong before you replace it, or do you exercise extra caution and for example replace say a heater annually to reduce the likelihood of overheating your Tank?

Just to clarify, It does cloud for all of 12 hours from when you first fill your aquarium, then it settles and your water is then absolutely crystal clear. It's also extremely easy to plant in, as you can tell by now i love the stuff :thumbup:
