Re: Schruz's Works - Wabi Kusa, Emersed setups, Planted tank
Hi all!
Sorry for not posting here at all for so many months. There has been a change in my lifestyle and have very little time left for foruming (unfortunately). The changes are actually good. Work, and finally a functioning band to...
Re: Schruz's Works - Wabi Kusa, Emersed setups, Planted tank
No Wave Zen Artist in th UK?? Wow... I wouldn't have thought that. Well order it from abroad. There are a lot of foreign webshops selling them I guess.
The terrarium titled "Humid Conditions" is a week old.

Re: Schruz's Works - Wabi Kusa, Emersed setups, Planted tank
If your Wabis don't look this ugly once every 1 to 2 months then you will not be able to make them very lush on the longrun. I find regular pruning more and more crucial, since otherwise plants get tired and thin up.
I only advise a...
I'm building many emersed projects next to my aquariums Including Wabi Kusas and terrariums with aquatic plants. I've seen many questions posted under this thread that might find answers in my journal. I'm not trying to show off or anything, but I think I have some experience with emersed...
Its not odd at all I think. May be he wants to do an emersed scape later. Dwarf hairgrass, Eleocharis parvula is a very easy plant when grown emersed. Plant it in nutrient rich soil, or preferably Amazonia, cover the container with something see-through and spray it with water daily. Airate the...
Thanks! They are sexy aren't day? I love them too. Brand is Wave, prototype is Zen Artist. They also come in white but black I think is way better. I bought them through GreenAqua in Hungary, but I'm sure there are numerous LFS that sell it in the UK. Just do a Google search and I'm...

Thanks for the input mate!

Re: Schruz's Works
Thanks ;)
Darrel, do you know anything about the optimal condition for making UG flower? As you can see, it seems to be feeling good, but no signs of flowers yet, nor in the palu nor in my Wabi. Can it flower in nutrient rich conditions?
Re: Schruz's Works
Yes, yes I forgot to mention these facts. Keep this and my suggestions on planting in mind and you'll have a carpet. If you want it sumberged, start your tank with DSM. I think it gets a better hold that way...
Re: Schruz's Works
Neil, on the Hungarian forums I've done a 'question and answer' collection of the most important things on Wabis. I'll translate that soon if you guys want, I don't want to discriminate Britain from this knowledge  But please be patient as I don't have time atm...
Re: Schruz's Works
OK guys Im very sorry for not thanking you the warm remarks for so long. I'm writing my thesis and preparing for my end of program comprehensive exams at the uni so recently I had no time to update my journals.
Anyways thank you guys very much! As Viktor hinted, we made a...
Re: James' ADA 60p setup (week 6 shots)
Absolutely stunning! The reason I love your scape is due to its simplicity yet stunning power. Thumbs up for the glosso! ;)
Re: Schruz's Works
My paludarium was 2 weeks old on February 1st. it was time for the first overall pruning. Almost everything was pruned except for the Blyxa.

Re: Schruz's Works
Thanks for the contribution ;) My experience is that not only linear, but any types of T2 bulb is the most efficient version of the compact fluorescent family. And for screw type PCs, fittings are readily available (the most common house lamp fittings: E14, E27) So I would...
Re: Schruz's Works
Thanks! I'm glad my work makes you happier Mike. :)
 You definitely made me blush with your kind words mate. Thank you. Bulb is 15W. But I reckon one doesn't even need to bother much about watts these days as long as they are compatible bulbs with the lamp. I think...
Re: Schruz's Works
A Wabi of which I didn't share many photos yet. Its running since August 2011 and my father is taking care of it in his flat. When I went there today I realized that it deserves some photos because it really has become beautiful. It is interesting to see that even Lindernia...
Re: James' ADA 60p setup
That's very interesting. Yes I always wondered why glosso is the last to open its leaves after the night. All stems and others are opend, but glosso only starts to do so an hour or so the after lights come on. I have a 10 hour photoperiod actually (Amano's inspiration...
Re: Double Opti White Nano - Cherry/Sakura Breeding Colony
Hmmm... Guys, I really think that this is a Pteris species. Dragon's pic resembles my fern very closely and I'm positive that mine is a Pteris sp. Neither of the ferns you mentioned look much like either of our plants sorry :P I'll take...
Re: James' ADA 60p setup
Well I'm glad I was on the right track then :) According to this pic, your old nano was stunning too.
There must be a reason for Amano himself rarely useing this plant as a single foreground cover. Only 2 or 3 of his tanks come into my mind where there is an exclusive...
Re: Schruz's Works
Ugh, long time passed since I have posted in this journal. Quite a lot happened though.
First off, all is well with the new Wabi. It survived the first pruning a few weeks ago very well. Soon time for a new pruning.

James... I think everyone's mouths are open, with saliva dripping once they've seen your pics and read your list of premium ADA equipment. So, so admirable and amazing! I'd do your dishes for a month or something in return for just being able to look at your...
Re: Double Opti White Nano - Cherry/Sakura Breeding Colony
As the others have already said, this is wonderful stuff mate  Your study reminds me of my living room/study where I keep most of my tanks and Wabis... So I know how great it feels to be in shuch ambient surroundings :)

At first I thought I see HC in the mibble tank but then I realised its Elatine hydropiper. Its a very cool plant, I just researched it a bit. Its always good to see less popular plants in new tanks. Great job again mate!
P.S. Where did you lay your hands on it?

Hey!
You actually have a lot of options with regards to types of plants. I have lush emersed growth on top of both of my tanks. Check out my journal (link in my sig) Its easier to achieve lush growth with branches sticking out of the water, covered with dense aquatic moss at least near the parts...
Re: Schruz's Works
I don't flood the wabis, I prune those without water, but I flood the emersed Iwagumi. Glad to hear you're in the club of wabi fans :)
Did you post pics somewhere? I'd like to see your and all other's stuff. What I saw in the emersed growth topic are mostly older works...
Re: Schruz's Works
I am pleased to hear that AndersH :) Trust me, once you make a wabi, you will want and actually realize an other one, and another one, and another one... And why not? Its much cheaper and requires less work then having multiple planted tanks. Although having multiple tanks...

WOW! I cant believe noone has actually replied to this yet! Amazing stuff Kimkim!

Re: Schruz's Works

Re: Schruz's Works

Re: Schruz's Works
Thanks for the warm words ghostsword ;)
New pictures.
Replanted the glosso carpet 2 weeks ago in my 100L tank. It was too thick and let go of the substrate. I will need to prune more often. Its amazing how fast this plant grows in a full high tech environment. On the...
Ahh ghostsword! You've got a really nice bowl. And now I see you mentioned many important points before me. Great work, keep it up! Lets try to popularise emersed aquascaping together
Very nice Derek. The hydro looks amazing! Why dont you add some lights to your setup? In my emersed setup 40 watts are lighting a 20 l tank and growth is madly dense. Check it out if you have some time, there's links to it in my sig.
Re: Schruz's Works

Re: Schruz's Works
just add water till it reaches the surface of the substrate. Make sure not to cover any plants with water though as they wont have acces to CO2.
Re: Schruz's Works
Well, its really trial and error. There are no rules here like with planted tanks. Buy lamps with up to 100W capacity and than you can buy smaller wattage bulbs and experiment. The Do!Aqua wabi is lit by 30W 6500K. It could be lit with much more and than the lamp could be...
