    It will be less likely to have an algae bloom after a water change if something goes wrong. :) Anyway feel free to experiment but any change you do stick on it for a couple of days to see results.

    You are ok with the light, 2-4ml ec / day (depending on the plant mass) is my normal dose for t5 24w in a similar tank. You can try any carpeting plant, never tried UG with liquid carbon but the rest were ok, just have a little patience since they grow a bit slow, the original leaves might die...
