I thought the idea of ei was to ensure that there was always an excess of nutrients in the water coulomb? so if i dose the same weekly amount then there should be that excess and wont the plants only use what they need leaving the rest suspended in the water for later?

Hi Would they be a problem in dosing on a weekly rather than daily basis? I currently dose micro and micro alternate days but find i regularly forget, what i wondered is could i dose a weeks worth of ferts after the weekly water change? cheers

another vote for Nannacara anomala, have have 4 in a 600l tank and they are really nice and buckets of character, mine were a bit dull when i bought them but they have coloured up well, with the males displaying electric blue heads and the females a nice orange colour

mine get flake first thing in the morning at the same time as i feed the plants, later in the day i put in one of those tab things that stick to the glass and in the evening they get frozen live food

Hi I was wondering what other hobbies ukaps members are interested in? I seem to have a problem with hobbies, other that aquariums im also into fishing, mountain biking, building model aircraft and flying R/C aircraft. the obvious problem is they all cost money to my wifes dismay

i have kept both of these in the past and although they do root around a fair bit they dont tend to dig into the substate to much, i never had any problems with them uprooting plants. Dianema urostriatum is also very nice.

how long has your tank been set up? i had a problem with brown diatom algae when i first set up my tank but after a few weeks it started to die off to be replaced by other forms of algae.

My two settled down well after a couple of days, they both feed well and have plenty of colour! I think it may have been the CO2 in the tank as I have had a couple of Angels do the same.

If you are worried about flow disturbing your fish then fitting spray bars to the filter out lets will help as it will distribute the flow over a wider area! It will also help distribute the CO2 better!
