    Liquid Co2 tanks...

Do you think it would be wise to start off with half the recommended dose and then increase to double over weeks/days? or would I just be wasting LC by doing this, I just wondered if I introduced it gradually it might be less of a shock (if that makes sense)?

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

You must get through serious amounts of LC, do you just use branded LC or make up your own? you mention the vallis doing well what dose did you start off with to achieve this? Is it a good idea to perhaps mix the LC in a jug with some tank water before adding? Also would I need to double dose...

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

Hi I did read about the diy lc but will wait until I know what im doing before I go too far down that road, but i may well stick to lc for the 30 ltr. Because of the low light im guessing I would need less gas? if so it might make it more affordable to build a FE system? thanks for all your...

Andyh's Journal "Green Beach" Update 01/03/2013

Great tank! How do you manage to keep the pink colour in the plants? and stop your grasses from tangling, mine looks like what you would pull out of a hairbrush!

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

Hi Average, does lc show on the co2 indicator the same as gas? I did worry about the harmfulness of the lc, if the plants are absorbing the chemical used does this then mean that they will contain a high concentration and become toxic to anything that nibbles on them? I may have this completely...

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

Hi all and merry Christmas, I wondered how many of you have currently got a set up using one of the many liquid Co2 products out there? and if so how did you (or did you not) overcome any problems with plants that are less tolerant of it? Is liquid Co2 suitable to use until such time as a FE...

If it's yellow, let it mellow and RO is the devil

hey Darrel i know the set up i described sounds huge (i only realised that when i re-read it :) ) if you live in a flat then i think it would be near impossible, my brothers garden is about 30ft he got round it by sinking everything and useing small pond/aquarium pumps to shift the water...

Show Us Your Rare And Odd Fish!

years ago i used to give them to my oscars as a treat maybe once a week and they really seemed to enjoy them and didnt appear to cause any problems, the kids loved hand feeding the oscars with them. i used to feed the oscars live fish as well and i agree with you that there isnt much nice about...

Show Us Your Rare And Odd Fish!

Hi Christie have you tried mealworms? you can buy them live and keep/breed them easily, because of this you get the oportunity to feed the worms on a diet that will in turn benefit youre fish rather than low grade food that the breeders tend to give them which could be lacking. you also get...

    Anyone kept bullfrog tadpoles before?

yeah there was a glut of them in lfs's twenty odd years ago, then people realised the impact that they had on local wildlife (and small pets) when they were released.

    UK wood preparation

    UK wood preparation

hi Darrel yeah i did wonder if the dried stuff would be too light, long soaking maybe? i have a twisted/contorted willow growing as well, the problem i could see with it is that its predominantly the new growth that shows the contortion and so i would be limited to the thinner twigs (which would...

    UK wood preparation

how would this work with willow? i have some which is or has been well dried outside for over a year , but i also have some which is more recently cut and will no doubt continue to grow once placed in the tank and i wondered if this would still be safe to use? i had thought about using the...
