I have done a lot of searching to fit a way to run the cga reg on an fe but no luck. I have the TMC adaptor and all. I ended up running it on 88g disposables. Expensive tho :( I was looking into filling the cga bottle from FE's tho.

EoTD can happen with single stage regs. You may not ever experience it. You can change your tank early to avoid it or use a dual stage reg if it worries you. I was using 88g co2 bottles with a single stage reg and they were running out each week. Never did I experience it.

Note that the colour rendition on led bulbs isn't great and the tank will have a washed out look to it.

I bought just the glass for mine. £40 for a 40x30x25cm. Then you build it yourself.

My reg is the cga320 version. I own that adaptor aswell. Yes it will fit any paintball tank. Handy if you need to use a smaller bottle to save space. It's a Shame I can't find an adaptor to use my reg on an fe tho.

CGA320 is the paintball standard. They may well be the common adaptor that allows you to run 88g disposable bottles on your gun. I have one of these for my TMC v2 pro reg.

I wouldn't read too much into unless using leds. Just follow this and make sure your co2 and flow are dialed in well and all should be good. Hope that helps.

I think I have made my mind up on this scape so far but that is subject to change. I will using Ada Amazonia that im hoping to cap with powder but my just blend some standard and see how that works out. Also tempted to dry start it while I get all equipment sorted.

Tank has arrived. Just waiting on the soil to begin arranging hard scape materials. Rock is also needed but not sure what I'd like for it just yet.

I'd say it would work but there would be a delay before the gas comes out of the diffuser. Much like we get anyway but for a longer period of time. Im sure someone must have tried this and can run in with an experienced answer.

Note that you don't need aquarium grade tools. You will find good bargains by searching for dentist/surgeons tools. As long as they are stainless all is good.

The TMC nano reg should have a 1/8npt fitting after removing the tube connector. It will not be possible if the valve has only tube connectors. I got a valve from germany which I am planing on adding to my fluval nano kit and adding an inline solenoid.

Also the check valve i found is female to male so a hex nipple isn't needed to mount the bubble counter. £45 is still a great price as they are over £100 new.

That all looks fine to me. When I get a chance I'll find the check valve I keep meaning to order. It's the smallest I have found so far. Note with BSPP fittings there should be a rubber washer between them to form the airtight seal. Apart from that all looks good.

Just out of interest. Why have you included a 10w blue led bulb? I would consider adding in some different temperatures of white led. Also these leds need mounting to a heatsink for the cooling. Be it a big heatsink or a small heatsink with a fan is your choice.

A quick look at the regs and £35 for one with a single gauge. This is before factoring in the solenoid and needle valve. The money saved wouldnt be that great tbh. Plus the savings from using an FE would make the FE system cheaper in the long run.

Looking at your budget an UPaqua regulator, FE and all the required tubing, check valve, bubble counter and diffuser would come in at around £100. This system IMO would be a good option. The welding setup would be cheap but it may not to be the ideal setup. I'll take a look and price one up...

The ada unit uses lower powered LEDs. You may not be able to make it as slimline with 3w Crees due to needing them to be cooled a lot more so a heatsink with big fins would be needed. Possible using more LEDs than needed and running them at a lower MaH/Voltage would work with a slimmer heatsink...

The only adaptor I have seen that's close was a din-477 to disposable welding bottle. I currently own a din477 to cga 320, and a cga320 to 88g. I'm looking for a cga320 to din477 with no such luck.

Adding optics will help punch the light down there if you think you need it. But they may not give a good light spread unless raised above the tank.

Kelvin is the colour temperature. Nm is nanometers. A blue actinic is something like 71,000kelvin. Par is Photosynthetically active radiation. Aslong as the par is good it doesn't matter what colour the light is.

The kelvin rating applies to the light we see. If 6500k is the best for growing plants then why do ADA (correct me if I'm wrong) 7000k or 8000k. Wouldn't they use 6500k? Plant growing LEDs on eBay use blue/red and blue/green/red combos. They grow plants but certainly aren't 6500k. perhaps...

Ok 20k and blue is more suited to a marine setup and you may not get the look you want with that. 6500k is what the light would look like at midday. The problem is with LEDs the spectrum isn't that great at making the colours "pop" and you will end up with a washed out look. I'd say your better...

Perhaps George farmer will chime in to give his thoughts on this tank as I believe it is similar if not a rebranded version of the orca tank he had. I remember seeing it in pkf and that his children were doing most of the dosing etc..

Another option is DIY LEDs. You can pick up 10w LEDs from eBay with optics and a driver for very cheap. Mount them on heatsinks and suspend them above your tank and you could create a slick looking energy saving setup that will give you some nice shimmer. Adding in some warm and neutral whites...

I ran my TMC v2 pro regulator on 88g paintball cylinders. I found that the pressure dropped for the last bit of co2 and didn't need too much tinkering. I can always just empty it when it starts dropping and start a new one.

Yeah aqua medic are fine. I think they are inline valves tho so they will be connected via two tubes.

Yes it's a metering valve. I got it for £20 aswell so it was a no brainer.

It was through eBay. Still awaiting a reply to make sure it's the right one. It was around £20 I think, that's before shipping but as I need 2-3 of those valves myself is cover the shipping to this country then let you know the cost to ship it to you. Wont be much tho :)

Anyone that fits and has as many turns from open to closed as possible. My TMC reg has something like 2.5-3 turns I think but my current DIY builds have 15 turns :)
