Normally I'm a fan of open topped high tech aquariums. Due to my daughter being due in 4 weeks I've decided to go low tech so I can satisfy my planted needs without having to trim plants etc constantly.
After looking around go a suitable tank I found what I was looking for. A small tank that...
Ok I'm planning a 40x30x25cm tank. It will be on a custom built stand so I light arm can be used. But which lighting do I go for? Currently trying to figure out which will be the best. I'm current thoughts are to DIY my gu10 2x50w light above the tank and run led bulbs. 1-2 TMC mini 400. 3x8w...
Just won a brand new Fluval 88g co2 set for £30 on eBay. Gotta love that place. Ill keep this spot open for my modifications. I'm planning on adding a solenoid and needle valve to make this a nice little nano Set. A lot of people think this kit is a waste of money. I feel with a bit of tinkering...
Picked up my tank today. Best £8 I ever did spend. Did a quick mock up of the scape. Work in progress. Still needs the sand/gravel path and some rocks added to the mix. This took all of 5mins but you get the idea.
Now sit tight and wait for the update/journel.
Went to pick up my fish last night. 12x green neon rasbora. Very under weight but fingers crossed they all make it. Now I got these from a guy that has links to suppliers so I got all for £21 good price? Also ended up with a 12x8x8inch tank and a 24x8x8 for £15! Running out of space now as that...
Ok so in around a month or two I am moving out of my flat. I only have one tank setup right now that I don't feel like moving so I'm setting up a tank at the house I'm moving to ahead of time so I can just move the livestock.
Here is my list for the tank I'm preparing to setup:
35x35x35cm...
Ok here is my dilemma! I own 2 tmc led lights. I want to run one on my 35cm optiwhite cube. They a tmc mini 400 and 1000ND. My options are to either mount the mini led using the mountaray stand or hang the 1000ND above the tank. I have one controller so dimming is do-able. Obviously the 1000ND...
Fancied a go at building led lights. Starting out small I bought four Cree XML 3w LEDs. Now I'm awaiting a 12w constant current driver (from china so could be awhile). While waiting for that I shall buy the heatsink and any plugs/wires I may need. If all goes well and the thing works I'll try...
Ok I'm looking at buying my first DSLR. My options are currently canon 1100D with 18-55mm lens or 600D body only. Both on finance so the difference in price won't feel that much different. The 600D would only cost £35 more for the initial purchase then an extra £12 a month for 10months. But it...
I've been planning my custom regulator and registered to swagelok today. Within 30mins of doing so I received a call from them to chat about what I'm using them for. Brilliant customer service froma top company. Can't wait to pick the parts now and get building. I wonder how much it would cost...
I don't think I've ever been this excited over a light. I mean yeah waiting for my arcadia 2xt5 luminaire got me a little bit excited but that was £100 piece of kit. I'm trying out a 6w LED bulb over a 20L nano and I've only just taken my eyes off the tank. For £10 for the desk lamp + the bulb...
I'm starting this now so I have to finish it. Basically I'm going to try set up a fully planted tank for as little money as possible, mainly to see what can be done. It may take a while to get going but we shall see. It will be low tech as there is no way I'll be using a full co2 kit on a budget...
I came home from work to feed my fish. I have 7 tetras. I went to get the food out and a whole tube of bloodworm was missing. The mrs had decided to make friends with the fish by feeding them a whole tube! Tank will need cleaning early now :(
I have a 28ltr tank. Setup yesterday. I'm using an all pond solutions 300lph internal filter. The flow seems too slow. I may try using biorings to replace the foam as I don't feel I need the foam right now which may help. Or buy one rated for 450lph or 600lph? Thoughts?
I own a tmc advanced regulator. It's a cga320 fitting. I know this is a paintball thread but does anyone know if the us and uk standard are the same? I have bought an adaptor to use 88g disposables on this reg to try it but just wondering if anyone can clarify before it arrives? Thanks
I ordered some anubia nana petite from another country. It arrived today. Having forgotten about it and not needing it in my scape, I've attached it to a stick and put it in a wine glass with tmc soil. Added water to the soil level and covered with clingfilm. It's under an led light running for...
