    Should you clean a snail?

Only on here would someone ask... 'should you clean a snail?' and have people not think you're nuts. I love this forum  I quite like his camo. I'd probably leave him as he is, as long as it doesn't seem to be bothering him. Sorry I couldn't offer more help

    Weeping Willow

I have a weeping willow that is at the end of my patio, about 12ft from my back door.... I obviously wouldn't recommend one so close. We've had to line waste pipes and had/have all sorts of problems from the roots, but it was planted by my Nan many years ago, so for that reason we put up with...

    Aquascaping Contest Scandal

I don't really agree that store owners should not be allowed to participate. Anyone with a limitless budget has limitless access. Also, you could give me identical hardscape, plants and fish to those of the grand prize winners and my tank would still end up resembling a ditch. I should think...

    Tank backgrounds

I’ve just covered the backs of my aquascaper 900 and 600 with this frosted film. It has a backing that needed peeing off, but it wasn’t adhesive, just super shiny. Seems well stuck with just a bit of water

Probably this, combined with your careful choice of plants and I bet the layout helps maintain really good flow right round the tank. It's a great scape and I'll be sad to see it go. You could ease the suffering by telling us that you've placed the order for your 1200.... :woot:

Show me your favourite long (~1500mm) aquascape?

I don’t have any examples, but I think if I were scaping a very long tank, I’d maybe try to split it up into islands. Each one would be similar to scaping a standard 60 or 90 so scale and things would hopefully not be an issue. Each island would be treated as an individual scape, but by using...

    Male betta

Hi Amy, I'm sorry I won't be much help in diagnosing a cause of your algae problems, but I'm sure someone else on here will be able to help you out on that. But if it were me, I'd probably remove it manually. I'd start with a really good clean of the tank and some large water changes. I'd...

    Woodland Troll - Take Four

I agree... it was quite dramatic before, when you had that gnarled wood, sideways in a bare bottomed tank. I like points where a twig seems to extend out and puncture a layer of pristine sand. The 1500 that Filipe scaped at AG has it and there was another tank posted on here years ago that I...

Transitioning Phase... (Unknown Weeks) Transitioning into a Journal

Try to remove as much of that little ‘gift’ on your manzanita as you can before you add it to your tank. As siege said it goes brown and falls off. I didn’t remove it from mine, and it turned really sludgy and is a bit of a pita to get out without it breaking up and getting everywhere.

If you can transfer the filter media from your old tank to your new filter, you won’t need to wait and could transfer your fish immediately. But if you want time to rescape and adjust things without fish, they’ll be fine in a bucket or plastic storage box with your filter and heater attached.

Unable to fit Twinstar 600E on Aquascaper 600??

I’m sorry I couldn’t find the box to confirm the year of my twinstar, but I brought it last year from AG, so I’d have thought it is a 2019 model or late 2018. When I first sat it on my aquascaper it did sit on the glass, and had others not used this combination of light and tank I’d have...

    Getting rid of the mist.

I have a TMC aquagro on the outlet of an eheim classic. Setting it up was a bit of a PITA. Because of the position of the in and outlets on the aquagro it means that the outlet for the eheim is at a right angle. It doesn't seem to restrict flow but its not ideal. My cabinet is big so I can...

    Ph droping but still blue

I was the same when I first started to use co2. Its not surprising when you read about devastating ph crashes on other forums. 67. H

    Ph droping but still blue

Hi Katfish. Adding co2 will lower ph. The drop checker measures the ph. If your aim is to get your drop checker to change from blue to lime green you need to lower your ph by adding co2. Don't worry, I don't think you will cause any great ph 'crash'. If you make drastic changes you could risk...

Killifish meet, Weybridge Surrey - Sun 15th April

The guys at MA were saying that they were really worried when the ottos came in as they were really skinny, but they have been feeding them well and are pleased that they didn't lose 1. There is another MA on the A30 at Ascot. It is bigger than the one at weybridge.

    Anyone know what this is?

After moving some wood to another tank, it developed this coating all over. It was a bit too much for the shrimp to handle so in the end I just had to remove the wood and wipe it all off. It is a bit of a pain, but really easy to get rid of and had never returned.

    Ideal tank size

I don't know if there is an ideal size. All comes down to space and budget I would have thought.
