Where to buy in the North West.

Bit of an update, including Covid implications. Abyss - now really going for it with plants, large area dedicated to plant dry goods, healthy stock of Tropica plants (and 12grow, and the packaged plants). Pricing now much more competitive (used to be slightly dearer than others) Pier -...

Where to buy in the North West.

The Aquarium at Cockfield's is no more. Now a children's petting birthday venue.

Where to buy in the North West.

Fishrooms Poynton, at the reopened and revamped Brookside Garden Centre. Small but well kept. Basic ranges of dry goods, good healthy tropical stock. Tropica plants. Stocklists posted on their website. Miniature railway if you need to placate/bribe small people to visit another fish shop. Abyss...

Where to buy in the North West.

Visited Water World in Altrincham today. Underwhelming. Plants were looking a bit unloved. Nice selection of Rift Valley cichlids. Called in at Abyss on the way home. Heaving. Very very busy. Wonder when they'll open up their new room? Plants were top notch. I really should save myself time and...

Large aquascaping rocks needed 40cm or so

I wanted some big river cobbles, tried all over my area and online - no joy. In the end I tried a local garden hardscaping centre (topsoil, aggregates, pavers etc) and they had exactly what I wanted at a very good price.

Where to buy in the North West.

Update on the Abyss. There is a new member of staff who knows his plants. As a result they now have a very impressive selection of potted plants (Aquadip and Tropica) and culture pots (Tropica). Took the 70 mile trip to a certain shop in Wrexham earlier this week; Abyss had the better selection...

    List of good LED fixtures

Fluval Aquasky. If like me you like the look of the hood that came with your aquarium, the LED units have snap on fittings which allow you to utilise your existing light bar to mount the LED units. Units are adjustable length wise so probably very handy for Juwel hoods Just fitted two 30w...

Where to buy in the North West.

A recent 'bored' day led to a trip visiting several shops on the southern side of Manchester. Starting at Cockfield, have to say stock levels were very down, lots of empty display tanks, only a handful of plants. Dry goods too seemed more sparse than when I last visited a few years back...

Fluval Roma 240 with 306 filter

Hi all, looking at Roma 240 (as I like the cabinet and idea of pipe work being integral, less happy with T8s but they'll suffice), visited lfs to see and discuss but lfs wanted to sell me something else with a fugly cabinet and didn't really answer my questions. So I hope you folk can help...

    Some questions

Sadly too many weapons of mass consumption at my house (4 boys, Mrs Radar) for a pressurised sytem at the moment, so I am limited to my yeast based system. Gases - I am a member of my local mountain rescue team and we (and ambulance service) store oxygen and entonox horizontally, we often use...

    Some questions

Hi, I have a few questions re: co2 kit. Currently using a JBL yeast based system (eco80 set, air stone diffuser currently hidden in my Juwel filter box which I think means I am not getting the best out of the system) and was wondering how to get the best out of it... * read a few folk talking...
