Yes the Fx is cheaper but the eheim has an inbuilt heater and runs at 2/3 the power of the fluval, both are good options though. Ref the lighting I have two 1m aquabars staggered to cover the full length of the tank.

Lindy, I'm using an EHEIM Thermo filter professionel 3 1200 XLT -2180 on a tank of this size. €435 shipped from Aquaristikshop in Germany. It gives loads of circulation and that's with the return split between two lily pipes.

I would check the seals on the line connectors. I find that adding a small cable tie helps to seal these better.

Most bathroom silicones contain an anti fungal agent which makes them unsafe for aquarium use, so you need to check for this.

Short, not very clear video of some of my Paros feeding on springtails. If you look carefully you can see the springtails on the glass above the water surface. The great thing is that the springtails don't try to leave the tank, and will stay alive on the glass or the floating plants for days...

One point to note is that if you reprime your filter when the water in the tank is lowered during a water change, you don't have to faff around with the location of your outlet pipe / spray bar since it's out of the water at that point.

Thanks for the comments. Amazing thing is I turned off ferts and CO2, cold turkey, two months ago, along with reducing the lights to the single strip, and everything is looking healthy.

You have got to try tropical springtails. They will happily live on your floating plants for days, and it's great to watch the fish hunting for them for hours on end.

One female is definitely a bit smaller and rounder than the other. Not sure if the third is a sub dominant male. it's fins are definitely darker than the other two although no secondary colouring evident.

They are doing great, they are in the tank third down. The male spends a lot of time in the ceramic tube on the RHS. I'm hoping he's guarding eggs.

Don't most RO units come with an inbuilt pressure gauge at the input to the membrane unit??

If it's the same as the Scaper's tank, the glass cover has about an inch clearance at the rear.

I've found with Fluval Shrimp Stratum that unless you have a good depth to anchor plants, you need to use some plant weights loosely attached until the plant establishes itself, then they can be removed. I add EI to my two shrimp tanks, just adjust the dosing accordingly. I'd say your changing...

The thing to understand is if the difference is due to the working pressure or the diffusers. Suggest you swap them over and see whether the larger bubbles move with the diffuser or not.
