    Allpondsolutions 1400ef+

I have the 1000 model and the UV switch cover snapped off but it's not a huge issue sorry to hear about yours.I like allponds for the value but sometimes quality is not best. I'm currently trying to get a replacement hang-on that arrived cracked. I run mine ceramic rings on bottom, the plastic...

    Fry in the Stream

Yeah they love posing LOL and yeah just can't decide what to put in there. The stuff at the back is supposed to be Sagittaria Subulata but it is rather long and won't sink, I've even put a plant weight on them and they still float mid-way so I'll probably sell them on. I'll also be attaching...

    Fry in the Stream

Really changed things up now, the project has moved into a nice new 70L 2ft tank. I'm not really happy with the layout or planting yet but been kind of rushed so I threw it together. Its not so much of a biotope but I'm still going for a river/stream look. The eyesore filters are only temporary...

Im guessing this is a jerrycan you've been using to transport RO/salt water? Try boiling water, if no use try liquid carbon or algicide but give it avoid rinse out after Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

    Discussion on water flow

I think it's all to do with the power of your filter too, my older filter wouldn't have worked well going from right to left but this one does. it's rated at 1000L/h,going across a 2"7' tank. The plants on the far left sway and like I said waste and anything else caught up always gets pushed to...

    Discussion on water flow

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I don't use lily pipes but a spraybar instead so I can get an even flow that cover the whole depth of my tank. Because it's quite heavily planted the bases of the tall stem plants at the back are completely covered by the midground and the midground covered by the...

    Discussion on water flow

I've found that having a diagonal flow from one side , top to bottom to the other worked best for me in my heavy planted. Using a spray bar to give an even jet of water across the depth of the tank. I find it moves the majority of waste to the inlet whilst leaving a small amount across the whole...

Permanent Emersed Setup solely to grow plants for Immersed?

The idea of a dedicated growing tank is cool as you could leave it fishless and bump CO2 up high and increase ferts allowing for longer photoperiods and less chance of algae. You may experience some melt if the tank conditions are very different but nothing to worry about I don't think. And to...

    Fry in the Stream

Originally I was going to do an asian stream biotope with a new 2ft tank but had to keep the cash so I thought I'd develop my fry tank. So as its normally full of guppies and platys its hard to do a specific biotope but I might have a lil research into a Sumatran one ;) I need some sort of...

    LED Lighting

Bit of a debate going on in this thread. I've successfully used LED GU10's before, they're pretty cheap, readily available and easy to fit. Here's my 3 part series of using them on my tank. Good luck finding an answer, it is a strange tank though, how do you find cleaning it and stuff?

    Fry in the Stream

Most of my plants came today so could help starting this journal. I'm converting my bare bottom fry tank into a mini aquascape, and for a change I've gone for a stream/river look. I've ordered some lovely looking sumatran driftwood that look like fallen branches and roots. A mixture of java and...

    Surface Agitation

I've tried both and I prefer lots of agitation, especially if using CO2. Don't forget plants love CO2 but fish NEED oxygen. Plus it helps prevent build up of skins and films on the surface that's made from dust and other bit in the air. But as others will say you can do it without any at all :D

    Plants improved, but how?

Even still any waste that was produced has stayed in there to process as opposed to being removed so who knows :-) if your readings are safe you could probably get away with less frequent water changes Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

    Plants improved, but how?

The only thing I can think of is a bigger supply of nitrates due to a lack of water changes, normally though plants get other nutrients from doing water changes so it's quite strange but good news at least Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

Thank you Thanks mate Not much spec wise as don't have a PAR reader. They are 4x5W GU10 LED Lights in Cool Blue(6000-6500K) They've replaced a useless 18W T8 which kept things alive but didn't promote much growth

    Welcome to the Jungle

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to the UKAPS forum but I consider myself a devoted fish and plant keeper. 90 cm optiwhite journal- new layout page 3

Looks good Tim, I noticed you drop-checkers are quite yellow. Watch you don't suffocate your fish mate with to much CO2, it's easily done, which I learnt the hard way. Luckily they all recovered but it was close. Is it an iwagumi layout?

    January sales ?

Hey niknaksky, if your close enough I know the Cannock Pets at Home have got a Roma 90 reduced a fair bit as its ex-display but still great condition. I wanted to get it but got no more room LOL I'd advise ringing them first to check if they still have it and at what price.
