    Ahh ok . I didn't think I have been adding enough. Ph only drops from 6.7-5.6 and drop checker just about hits lime green ( water is very soft ) If you do a basic search online for cherry rasorbas/tetra/barb the red gills look fairly common on the females .

    You could always use a piece of self cleaning glass for a glass lid , this should stop the condensation to a certain degree , as it will have a special coating in which water doesn't like to 'adhere' to , a bit like if you were to spray a surface with silicone spray . Just a thought

    Here's a nice shot :) Yea it's not too bad , pleased with the lighting though as it's fully dimmable ( LEDs) I would never use non-dimmable lighting again :) I keep raising the intensity every week , only a little but it widens the threshold :)

    I have also built an led light using 1watt bridelux LEDs on starboard, soldering , heatsink and meanwell driver etc. I had 28 x1 watt LEDs over my 125 liter and it was just to much . If you do go down that route then I defiantly recommend getting a driver that is dimmable. Cheers

    That's a really high dose of excel for a 40 litre. Did you do a water changed since adding the excell ? How are you diffusing the co2 ? When I nearly gassed my ottos in my 40 litre it showed symptoms like yours . Was the drop checker in the yellow ?

    Use gu10 LEDs , Cheap , and easy to set up . I have mine running through a trailing edge dimmer switch The dimmable bulbs cost £3.00 each . The dimmer cost £9 The bulbs are gu10 LEDs 3x4 watt 7000k 60 degree lenses. Hope this helps

    Yep I'm adding a dechlorinator without fail , always have but no I'm also going to start letting the water stand for 24hrs before. Not sure of the tap ph after 24 hrs , I will see what the is . The tanks ph is 6.4 and drops to around 5.4 after co2 . Cheers

    The spray bar is already a little short so there is room but it's more convenient where it is already , would be handy if I can get away with it . It's on a timer, only runs for 15 mins at a time every few hours or so . Wasn't sure if that would have a negative effect on things .

I've cut my sponge in half and I've wedged it in the top skimmer part by the bottom (the remove able part) , I've done this because I can now easily clean or swap out the sponge...
