You should always do more water changes than normal when you disturb the tank substrate. It will help with any ammonia spikes you may or may not get. Changing water is the most powerful weapon we fish keepers have

Treat like a freshly set tank big\frequent water changes. Match temp to tank and use dechlorinator maybe use an ammonia remover for piece of mind. It's hard work but possible. In my early fish keeping years I had juvenile clown loach in an immature tank and they all survived. The key was clean...

I hate the numbers:lol: drop checkers and any device used to test the amount of co2 in the tank. The most accurate method is watching livestock. Adding large amounts of co2 to a tank is a risky business but knowing your critters and how they behave will give you a much better indication of co2...

I clean my filters as little as possible. Moniter flow from your outflow pipes and when it is reduced clean the filter. When you have more than one filter it makes your life easier because you can stagger cleaning and reduce the risk caused by overcleaning all your filters all at once

Depends on the plant too, health etc. I think that plants removed from the propagator can have a better chance of survival because they haven't had the trauma of transit. I also agree with kadoxu boost the co2 for best results. If you have no livestock you can add as much co2 as you like to aid...

Yes this is true for most but if you buy, for example, a Burkurt 6013 like what I use on my regulator and bought in Europe then that will have 1/8G or 1/4G ports which is a BSP and it is very similar but different to the American NPT

Most aquatic regs and solenoid's have 1/8 NPT threads, you can also buy a reducer to get from 1/8NPT to M5 should you wish to use the SMC valves

Definitely 2 different types. I used to work for co2art there are 2 flow values one is higher than the other, both valves look identical, Including the numbers. But if they do the job then happy days! :)

I managed to stretch 12mm Id hose onto a 16mm stainless spray bar so you shouldn't have any problems stretching 11mm id onto a 12 mm fitting. Just be careful if fitting to glass Lilly's etc. You can also soak the hose in boiling water to make it stretch easier

If your doing low tech then removing the reflectors might be a good idea. you may want to dose some liquid carbon because those lights might be a little much for a low tech . You might want to add some floating plants too, to reduce light further too.

The needle valves in the rs online catalogue are a little different to the ones co2art sell they are designed for a larger volume of gas and may not be suitable for a smaller tank

Problems with 2 filters sharing pipework is that problems can occur with filters overpowering each other which can potentially result in flow moving the wrong way through the pipe work and flow from one filter cancelling the other filter or even one filter pushing water the wrong way through...

Have you tried waiting for changes to take affect ?, a week is a good amount of time to wait... Also nozzles? Spraybar would be better. Also changing 1 thing at a time also helps then you can see what makes a difference to your setup. If you change more than one thing at once then you will not...

I'll give you a pointer try the plants you like, trim them and see what happens. Most of the fun is there. If you have no algae your 3/4 of the way there, then your well on the way to having a good planted tank

I used to cut it about 40mm from the substrate and replant the tops until you have the size of bush you require

You should cut the stumps as close to the substrate as possible then they don't rot and foul the water

P Fast isn't the word that's one of the reasons I don't like it, 40cms growth in 3 days. The other reason is when you trim it bits get trapped everywhere and you spend more time picking bits out than trimming it. I much prefer rotala wallichi.

Fissidens moss. Just jam it in to cracks, nooks and crannies it will take hold fairly quickly. You can also trim it very hard and it bounces back looking great. You can hoover it fairly aggressively to remove muck and grime

My guess would be too much light and/or poor flow. I thought I had good flow until I changed my spraybar and all my algae problems disappeared. As for the gsa more phosphates. The plants that you have will grow in fairly low light so reducing the lighting would be my first step:)

Add a few cms for the bubble counter as the one you are looking at attaches directly to the needle valve on the regulator. I found that 70 cms is a good height for your stand

your wavemaker looks to be pointing in a different direction to your spraybar this could be part of your problem too.

If you use excel to spot dose the bba at 2 x dose you should win the battle very quickly provided that light is not too much and co2 in not too little. Loaches can do a lot of damage to plants, so if you keep them in a planted tank be aware that your plants may never look 100% healthy, but BBA...

How's big is the tank? Liquid carbon will help but if you have too much light. then it will not be able to clear your bba problems

I would say its green but only just. its certainly not starting to go yellow yet and you could add a little more co2 if you want. If you do want to add more co2 then do it when your around to observe your fish just in case you add a bit too much

Hi I just topped up the water as and when i needed to. the plants were fine when they were put in the tank because they had plenty flow, co2 and nutrients. This is the hard bit, I guess we were lucky we got it right first go.

the o ring that is in the bubble counter should be fitted between the bubble counter and the needle valve to seal the connection. it is shipped inside the bubble counter so that it does not get lost in transit or accidentally thrown away with the packaging

Most people use pipe with a similar outside diameter to the inside diameter of their hoses. It might be possible to stretch the hose to make it fit, I stretched 12/16 tubing onto a 16mm spraybar but it was difficult
