    t8-t6's

Does changing the bulbs over from a t8 unit to t6's have any actual effect to plants, apaprently, t6's are 40% brighter, but i have just read that as the surface area of the t6 is smaller than t8, the light is simply more concentrated when looking at it, however, because no more watts are being...

    Short photo period midday burst?

I can never understand why people want to do this(no offence) to me, it just makes sence that the sudden change in light will not be matched by the increment in nutrients and co2, which may result in algae, just my 2pence, Adam

    Length and Time off day

Im running co2 24/7, tank lights come on at 3.00 and off at 10.00, although, getting my solenoid fixed will mean i have to come up with a new reigime for the co2 timings.

    WPG for T5 Lighting

As long as nutrients/flow/co2 are suplied you will be able to grow almost any plant in tanks with T5's the length of the tank.

Adding extra light to my aquarium

What i would do is swap the bulbs for T6's- you can get them from aqua essentials, they give much better kick than the t8's and i think its a much nicer light too. edit: thats if you are going to anything at all to the light that is.

    T5 as Opposed to T8

wpg doesnt apply to t8's anyways, its the old t12's i think, i dont really pay much attention to wpg, you dont need loads of light to grow plants successfully.

    just starting out

thats all up to you, if there is algae then you will need to increase dosing, but the plan you have seems to be a very good low tech one.
