I did have 11, they were wierdly sensitive and died off quickly, but, also, get a sponge to cover your intake, they really are tiny little fish! I would say any number up to 20 should look good.
but, just to add to what Darrel said, dont keep multies and similis' together, i accidently purchased 2 similis for my multi tank(thinking they were multies, believe me, its an easy mistake) the similis ruled, so i had to get rid of them.
no probs mate,
they are nearly impossible to sex, you will be a very lucky person to come back with that ratio.. id go with a group of 6 and then eventually you will have a pair formed. the rest can be removed if needed, although multies are colonial so it shouldnt be too much of a problem.
if you are coming anywhere near me anytime soon i can sell you mine, im having to cut down tanks due to electricity and attempting to keep marines.
they are great little fish, i have 3 but they havnt bred yet...
ok, i'll look into the other species, i already have a pair of bolivian rams in the tank, so im not trying to make it in proportion really,
thanks guys
oh, no, sorry mate, i should have mentioned, i have already researched the fish, they will be fine in a shoal of about 6, theres plenty of space, i was just wondering if they will dig the plants up.
thanks anyway
Hi all, I want to get a shoal of corys for my 60litre, but, do then rip up the plants? the majority of the plants *should* be fairly stable as the tank has been going for a good few weeks, its corydoras trilineatus i was looking at...
thanks
Adam
thanks, from my searches, apparently(according to pfk) limia sp eat both hair algae and brush algae
and american flagfish eat hair algae too...
I am looking for a fairly colourful, fairly hardy fish for my 60cm, it would be pretty much the only fish in the tank, and hope to have around 15 of one species.. I have seen the danio choprai, my lfs has them.
Does anyone have experience with them, or know anything? searches from google come...
ok, thanks guys. Darrel, I keep n.multifasicatus, awesome little fish, i'd love to get about 50 and watch them all dig, think how quick they'd be!
the species in particular i was looking at is nannacara anomala
the only over average lfs in my area is about the same distance away, i often use the thermal bag thingys, should see no problem with a backpack, it will hold the heat if its stuffed with something
Ive done some research, and im going with a the florida flagfishes, they will suit the tank better, in that if the gourami's go i can lower the temp right down to about 20c, plus, one absolutely brilliant finding, is that they eat ALGAE! :D
Now im just unsure whether to get 2, 3 or 4?
Re: Dwarf cichlid in my 40cm?
Thanks Ed, i think i'll have to disgard the thought about dwarf cichlids and go for something else.
Hokum, thanks  although, im pretty limited to what i can find really, my lfs's are pretty much rubbish, so im basing everything im looking at on the...
Re: Dwarf cichlid in my 40cm?

Is there anything else you would suggest, a nice bit of colour,
ive thought also about:
peacock gobys
Florida Flagfish-may eat plants aparently  :?:
Microctenopoma ansorgii
Pseudomugil mellis
the fish are sent in an over night courier service, that gets to you before 12:30(or something like that) packaging was a big thick polystyrene box, newspaper, the fish double baged, and a heat pack, they are brilliant :D
Re: Dwarf cichlid in my 40cm?
alrighty, yeah, thats why i mentioned about maybe just keeping 1 instead of a pair, it may turn a bit rough if i had a pair and they bred, i really like GBR's
one other thing to consider is my tap water is "moderately hard" although my ph is about 7(as its a co2...
Hi guys, I am wanting to add, a dwarf cichlid to my 40cm, im not sure whether it will be better to just get 1 so that they dont breed and cause havok for the other fish, this is my current stocking:
2 sparkling gourami(pair)
6 wcmm
about 30-40 odd cherry shrimp
about 3 bee shrimo
1 otto cat
1...
Yea, i see what your saying, no point in having a fish if it isnt really happy in the tank. Channa's would be good, but on their own, tell you one thing, have some of those and say goodbye to your shrimp
he could have died and been eaten by other fish, if he died pretty early on yesterday and you didnt notice, then if he's been dead for some time, the body would have decomposed pretty quickly in a healthy tank, that and your filter, could have wiped him out.
Hi guys, ive just read about white cloud mountain minnows jumping, and seen as my tank is open, and i have no way of covering it, shall i take a miss on this species?
They seem to be perfect in every other way; like lower temp, like some flow, hardy etc.. but if they jump
Has...
Re: otto's are captive bred
Mine dont eat cucumber, i used to have some in a different tank, and they lapped it up, how can i get mine to eat it, just keep on offering it?
ok, thanks mate, i think i will have to get a couple of sponges for the inlets then, seen as i'm getting some nice shrimp too..
what numbers are we talking guys? i was thinking getting 12 because some aways die- my fish do anyway, so then if the numbers get reduced order another batch, and...
i cant find any in my local shops, my area sells rubbish common fish like livebearers and tropical community fishes, a little bit of cichlids and a shop that specialises in catfishes, the place i will be looking to is Wildwoods online, i have used them before, and was very impressed.. £2 per...
they arent the same fish are they?? they will be the only fish, well except for some pygmy cories in the tank, and JESUS CHRIST, see what comes up when you type "boras brigittae" into a well known search engine   :jawdrop
Adam.
Hi all, I am after a group of shoalers for my 35litre, and would like to go with something like Boraras maculatus, what are they like, do they shoal well, and has anyone had any bad experiences of them dying easily?
thanks
EDIT: Plus i have fairly high flow in my tank, seen as its a high tech...
Im with Ed, i always cut a bit off and dont do anything, just chuck it in with a bit of lead weight, and both plecs and otto's love it, they seem to be able to eat it fine as the cucmber disseapers in the space of 30 mins
