I have a koralia too and it is silent. Sometimes as said if debris gets stuck to it/in it it makes a racket. Sometimes also the cable can vibrate off tank rims, hoods, glass covers etc which makes a terrible noise but moving the cable fixes that...... the only issue i have with the koralia pumps...

Hi, if your going to time them to shut off, have them shut off after the photoperiod. Have them on for the photoperiod to help distribute co2 and nutrients to the plants. I used to time mine to go off at night, but now leave on 24/7 as it is also helping to agitate the surface slightly...

I think with water changes you will see an improvement. My guess is that it is a very fine particulate from either of your substrates which is too small for your filter to remove. Keep us posted on progress. Cheerio, Ady.

What fertiliser did you use? If its an under substrate one is there anywhere it could be leaching out into the water column? Ie not capped sufficiently. Also it looks when viewing the large image that you have a sand bed at the other side of the tank....what was that? Your water does look cloudy...

You could also try carrying out a 100% water change and see if the new water remains clear, you seem to imply it may be dust from your insufficiently rinsed substrate in which case it may be that the particles are just too fine? Could you maybe post some pictures of the problem particles too...

Hi, placing substrate around the base of the unit is fine as shown on your images. It sounds like your issue lies with the water not being drawn through your filter media. The juwel power head/pump which draws the water has a soft rubber seal on the base which fits tightly into the central inner...

Some people use tights I think. Normal media bags arent fine enough as the grain size is super small. The seachem media bag is quite expensive from what I remember, but I got one of them too just to be safe :)

Ha, i edited my original post as you were replying. Although your filter is recommended for up to 600l tank volume, it maybe isnt 600lph? However on smaller tanks i beleive it is less critical to achieve 10x turnover and still get good all round flow. Cheerio,

yeah, thats what id do, you need to be looking at around 10x turnover to give yourself the best chance of good distribution, so ideally youd be looking at a 600lph filter for your 60l tank :) Cheerio,

you dont need to fill your media trays. Planted tanks act like filters anyway and its much better not to over fill your filter as this reduces flow efficiency. Some even run much less media to ensure maximum flow from their filters which is much more important in a planted tank :) Cheerio, Ady.

Really auto top up is best when connected to a main feed permanently, otherwise you may as well just use a transfer pump from your holding drums at water change time.

Well emptying the tank at water change time is a quick form of evaporation :wink: .... at the end if the day if the water drops so far then it will be topped up.

Hi, mine used to do it a little when i ran in tank diffuser which confused me...it wasnt a great amount, more of an occasional burping, so put it down to gradual build up of c02/02 gas drawn in through the inlet....it does it all the time now i run inline diffuser on the inlet :lol: No...

I think the trouble it is seems to scratch when cleaning, attracting algae and dirt, and it goes 'milky' over time which is more unsightly. I always remember undergravel filter uplift tubes, as soon as you tried to clean them.....scratches and milkiness :(
