Ideally I would add all the UKAPS members to this list too (I've picked all the UK ones as we are UK based) as we are a worldwide community but as I've not been on here for a while I have lost track of who is who. Filter out of action for next week or so what would you do?

Personally I would try to keep the filter media in the tank. It won't do well in the canister for a week. If it was me I would put the media in some sort of mesh/tights and keep it above or near the air-pump to keep water circulating through it.

    Internal Filter Recommendations?

How basic is basic? You may not even need the CO2 which would make things a lot easier tbh. The CO2 connected to the venturi will not really work. The CO2 needs to go through some form of diffuser to break the large bubbles into micro bubbles.

    What's your favourite aquascape 2015?

This is really tough! There are so many aquascapes to choose from. I will stick to UKAPS to narrow down the field. My choice comes down to it being a brilliant aquascape (of course) with great attention to detail. The_Iceman Journal - 60P - A Brief Crack of Light...

    New setup 60L planted tank.

I would reduce the duration to start off with. I have a (small) tank with mainly tissue culture plants that is dosed daily with easycarbo and ferts and it did take a while (weeks) for the tissue culture plants to take off. The difficult part is getting the flow to the bottom of tank. - is...

    New setup 60L planted tank.

My suggestion would be to reduce the lighting period to 5/6 hours to begin with and reduce the demand being placed on the tank. When dosing liquid carbon products it is best to dose the ferts daily as well. I think the biggest issue is flow/distribution. Is the internal filter in the middle of...

    Ph 8.2

Do you have the straight adapter for the filter outlet? This attaches to the current outlet and directs the flow parallel to to the surface. I find this gives better flow and still agitates the surface. I always struggled with anything but duckweed in my Juwel tanks. One thing you could try...

    High-tech & Low-tech - help with the definition please.

Thanks for all the replies guys. [emoji4] Already there are different opinions on what constitutes high/low tech. This does not surprise me. High-tech & Low-tech - help with the definition please.

Hi All, I am having a 'debate' elsewhere (PFK) about what defines a tank as high-tech or low-tech. Now my understanding (and I believe that of UKAPS?) is that the addition of carbon via Glute or CO2 puts a tank in the high-tech category. Clive's post explains all this very well -...

It's been a long time since I have tested the pH but my hard (gH about 18) tap water tends to be about 7.5-7.8. The pH in my tank (gH about 6) tends to be below 7. Now I cannot be sure if it is the actual acidity of the water in my tank or the lack of minerals (or both) that affects the...

Another option if you are sticking with an internal heater is to add a black background and check out the Aqua-el neo heaters. They are very discreet for an internal heater and you wouldn't need the thermometer on the front either as it does that job too.
